Based in Tokyo, Makoto Shimizu, better known as simply Makoto, is Japan's chief Drum & Bass ambassador. After completing an Acoustic Engineering major at Nippon University, Makoto first signed with LTJ Bukem's legendary Good Looking Records back in 1999. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, releasing a long string of quality music in the form of singles and EP's, but also on the famous 'Earth' and 'Progression Sessions' compilation albums. 2003 saw the release of his much anticipated debut album 'Human Elements'this album was widely praised as the transition of 70's Soul into the 21st century. also "Progression Sessions Japan Live 2003" with Deeizm, recorded live from Space Lab Yellow in Tokyo was an absolute gem.

Former Ministry of Sound resident, Mark Knight launched his own label Toolroom Records in 2004. Now Mark Knight & Funkagenda have just released a stunning tribute to an all-time classic…'Man With The Red Face'.
