Only a select few have achieved what Behrouz has managed in his two decades in the scene. Through hard work and determination, as well as a natural ability to rock rooms of all sizes he has amassed a career of achievement with no sign of slowing. 2010 see’s one of Behrouz’ busiest years to date. In addition to his endless gigs around the world he is also set to release Pure Behrouz as a 2 hour Sirius XM radio show. Also, keep a look out for an abundance of new studio work and his newest compilation Pure Behrouz: San Francisco on Nervous Records this Spring 2010.

WMC 2010 COUNTDOWN: BEHROUZ

Your WMC Events
I’m doing my annual Pure Behrouz show in association with Made Event at Karu & Y this year on Thursday, March 25th..

I hope and truly want this party to be different than most of the other parties out there this year and have handpicked quality DJs.

What I mean by this is that all these guys have been DJ’ing for a long time and they all have had their own residency at one point in their own countries and as mentioned above, to me these DJ’s are those that have taken me on a journey with their music. To me these days in the industry you have DJ’s and you have producers who are DJ’s now. Steve Bug, Alex Neri, Livio & Roby and Addy are true DJ’s and have paid their dues and that’s why I came up with this line up. They are some of my current favorite DJ’s.

Steve Bug needs no introduction. He is an amazing DJ and Poker Flat’s record label owner from Berlin. Last year during the WMC, I think he played the best set at Made Events Sunday School for Degenerate’s party and also he killed it at the Ovum party. I love this guy not only for his down to earth nature but because he plays pure house music. ‘Nuff said.

Alex Neri… Amazing DJ and owner of the Tenax Recordings label in Italy (also known as Planet Funk ). Alex did a phenomenal remix of my track “Feelin’ Good” that came out on Monique Musique last year. Look out for more future collaboration with Alex.

Livio and Roby have been two DJ’s that have been on my radar for quite a while. I played with these guys in Romania 6 years ago and was blown away by them. They have been making great music on some of the best labels at the moment and are on fire right now.

Our opening DH Addy, is from Toronto and if you are from Canada, you know how this guy has been quickly gaining recognition. He has been playing in Toronto for long time and blew me away the first time I played at Comfort Zone in Toronto with him (an underground after hours place). He still rocks my world every time I hear him.

I'm also doing a party for Cielo this year at at the Vagabond on Wednesday March 24th and the annual AM Only party at Karu & Y on Friday the 26th.

How many years have you been coming to WMC
16 years

Biggest change at WMC since you’ve been coming
Too many parties and clubs in Miami are milking it. It’s not about music any more It’s more about how much money these clubs make and every body is doing the same thing. I remember that I used to come to Miami and we would actually work and talk to A&R people and now it's all about the parties. It has nothing to do with DJs and music . It’s all one big spring break party. Of course technology has changed but these clubs here in Miami really fucked it up. They took over the conference and now they are just making money. Look at clubs like Mansion, where during the WMC they make about 4-5 million dollars . Are they about music ... No, not in my opinion.

Most memorable/craziest WMC experience you’ve had
Wow, I would say the best one was year 2000 when for the first time the Twisted party with Danny Tenaglia moved to down town at Space and that was the Space opening night. That was an amazing night and Danny did a phenomenal job and he played for more than 12 hours.

What are your ideas for making the WMC a better conference
I don’t know- maybe move it. LOL.... These clubs here are just making money. We need a conference for young artists to interact and give their promos to labels and get to meet all the artists. It needs to be a conference for music and not just one big spring break party so these club just make money.

Favorite place in Miami to eat/drink/chill and why
Jimmy'z Café -best food.. A little hole in the wall but great healthy food. Best place to check out every one is Lincoln Ave.

Favorite Miami hotel
W Hotel

Artists you’re looking forward to checking out in Miami

Best clubbing moment of 2010 so far
Brazil at Warung: one the best clubs in the world!

What’s in store for 2010
Working on my Pure Behrouz show that will be aired on SiriusXM. We are just about to launch this show. It’s will be a weekly 2 hour show with guests, labels and many exciting new programming ideas. I also have my Pure Behrouz San Francisco CD compilation coming out around April. Basically, I'm busy in the studio working on tracks and building the Pure Behrouz brand :)
