How did you curate the 3 different Unsound nights at the Bunker? Are these artists you've discovered at Unsound in Poland?
I worked together with Mat on the curation. We found we have very similar taste in music, and I think both of us discovered some new artists through the process of working together. We've been working on the lineup for a long time, so it was already set before I went to Krakow for Unsound. I heard Kadebostan, Untold, and Pavel Ambiont live for the first time in Krakow, and was really impressed by all of their performances.

Is there an underlying theme or current for each night?
Kind of. February 5 focuses on Techno, February 12 on House, and
February 13 on various shades of bass music. The interesting thing about a lot of the artists playing on these nights is that their sounds don't necessarily fit so easily into just one genre, so there will be a lot of genre-bleeding every night, which we really love at The Bunker. One of the overall themes of the festival is that of Eastern Promise. We're bringing in a lot of artists from Eastern Europe, who don't usually get to play in North America, and pairing them with artists from North America who also don't get the attention they deserve here.

You recently went to Poland for the Unsound festival this past Fall. What was your experience like vis-a-vis other festivals you've been to (Mutek, Sonar etc)?
Overall, I was extremely impressed. The music program was spot on, and the venues used were all unique and amazing. The festival was really well paced, with no overlapping events, which I really enjoy a lot more than other festivals where too much is happening at once.

Who are you most excited to hear?
That's really impossible to say. Truthfully, there isn't a single artist playing the festival that I'm not excited about.

About Unsound Festival
Since 2003, Unsound Festival, Poland's most adventurous music festival, has brought a bold and uniquely modern program of music to Kraków. Unsound Festival New York’s mission is to forge new links between music genres, between generations and even between artistic practices.

The driving force in the assembling of the New York program has been Unsound Festival's commitment to forms of music and sound art that involve experimentation and risk. Unsound Festival has made a worldwide reputation by breaking new ground while dealing with vibrant electronic, experimental, independent, post-classical and club music scenes from around the world.
