WMC 2010 Countdown: Doc Martin
by rhythmism
Wednesday, Mar 17th 2010, 11:22 AMDoc Martin’s live sets truly bring people together the variation in his style of music is endless. What makes him so different from the rest, is his unique ability to spin everything from deep house vocals that have so much depth and meaning to us all in some way, his funky tribal bass lines mixed with threads of acid, his passive collection of classics rare records that are only to be heard at his gigs. Doc Martin has developed the respect as a house DJ that so many of us admire. It is this respect that keeps him constantly touring, from New York to London, Japan and everywhere in between.

How many years have you been coming to WMC
The first WMC I went to I believe was in 1992 after the conference left New York.
Biggest change at WMC since you’ve been coming
Is that the WMC has become less of a Conference for the Music Industry, and more of a party. I think it’s healthy to have the people, and DD’s/Producers in the mix on the dancefloor.
Most memorable/craziest WMC experience you’ve had?
There are a few: The early Ovum Parties, The first Wax party.,and the first Sublevel Party (An Underground feel in Miami?)
What are your ideas for making the WMC a better conference
I think more people would actually go to the Conference it self, If the registration fee were a bit lower, and if the venues actually honored the badges for free admission.
Favorite place in Miami to eat/drink/chill and why
My favorite used to be a restaurant called El Viante. Nothing flash just really good Cuban food. Also Joes Crab Shack.
Favorite Miami hotel
Tides
Artists you’re looking forward to checking out in Miami
Steve Bug, Josh Wink, Thomas Schumacher, Moodyman, and about 150 other DJ’s
Best clubbing moment of 2010 so far
There have been a few: already playing Fabric w/Ricardo Villalobos, Doing Sublevel Live at Trouw in Amsterdam, And Sublevel, on the underground tip.
Whats in store for 2010?
Just finished the new Sublevel Single. Getting back on the production after being on a long hiatus. Touring Japan, Europe, Indonesia, and everywhere in between.
