  1. How was WMC for you?
Less stressful than last year!! All in all, a good time. But a lot less of a turnout than previous years. Where was everyone? Is the WMC to be no more? ::sounds of scary revelation:: Dun dun dun
  2. What was your best party / highlight of conference?
Best party was, hands down, the muthafuckin Ovum Party at Mynt on Sunday night. Wink threw down such a good set that I actually skipped the one party I'd had my heart set on going to! (that party, of course, being a drum n bass blowout the Virus/Ram Showcase) And the only celebrity that makes my heart go a-flutter was at the party hanging out, so double-whammie! Who is that fine specimen of celebrity, might you ask? The illustrious G. Love (sans the Special Sauce). The venue wasn't really ideal, I'll admit, but the crowd was good, the vibe was great, and the music was off the hook. And, yet again, Paul Frank made 300 shirts exclusively for the party, featuring the Paul Frank monkey with the Josh Wink Œfro and a set of headphones! Pink, yellow, and white for the ladies, blue and black for the men. To top off how unbelievably rad Josh Wink is, he insisted the Heineken ad above the DJ booth be removed and played without any visuals so as not to promote an alcoholic beverage.
  3. What was the worst party / lowlight of conference?
Worst party? I wasn't there, but from what I hear, the WinterOasis @ Space on Monday night sucked (save for Armand Van Helden's set). Pure disaster. DJs pulled out of spinning after time slots were bumped, and the place was more or less empty. Someone's gonna get fiiiired! And where was Roni Size this year???
  4. Highlight track(s) of conference?
Track of the conference? Golly gee, I don't know. Nothing really stood out.
  5. New talent: DJs ? producers ? live acts that really stood out at conference?
New talent that stood out... As much as I hate to say it, Bryan Cox. Seems every house DJ was on his jock, from DJ Dan to Sneak to Bad Boy Bill. And he's got a new hot track coming out called "Music is Moving." But beware, this Texas resident might butt his nose into your personal life, so try to keep it strictly business!
  6. Best Set: Who delivered the Top 3 sets of conference?
Top 3 sets: Josh Wink @ Ovum Party, Planet of The Drums @ Ultra Fest, Crystal Method performing "Born Too Slow" live @ the Dancestar Awards
  7. Most memorable (funny or otherwise) experience from conference.
Most memorable experience from Conference can't be said here. Sorry kids. :-D

    But here are two runners-up:

-Walking to our apt by the bay, we came upon a stream that blocked our path to the other side of the road. Luckily, a nice gentleman was going down the stream in his boat, and offered to take us across to the other side. So the four of us climbed in for the 30-second boat ride... I swear this happened.

-Standing on the balcony practically nude in the early morning, assuming the rest of the company was passed out... When of course not one, but two coworkers felt the need to wake up and step outside...
  8. What's coming up next for you in 2004?

  1. How was WMC for you?
Too many people shaking your hand while constantly looking over your shoulder for somebody more important to talk to. It was great to get to hear some DJs play though as I very rarely do get to hear anyone play due to working the same nights they do!
  2. What was your best party / highlight of conference?
Richie Hawtin party was alot of fun as was mine and James Zabielas' at Nerve.
  3. What was the worst party / lowlight of conference?
Ministry of sound party at Mynt now renamed by us as Ministry of skanks (I have no idea how we ended up there!). Also seeing Bill Patrick wearing a silver g string that we gave him on Washington at 6am.Nasty!
  4. Highlight track(s) of conference?
We went to the food and wine convention and didn't listen to any music although this years favorite new dish was a combo of prawns and corriander....
  5. New talent: DJs ? producers ? live acts that really stood out at conference?
James and Gaby [Astro&Glyde]...Hisham...Little Mike, Bill Patrick, Dennis Rogers
  6. Best Set: Who delivered the Top 3 sets of conference?
    Josh Wink, Magda, Jeff Mills
  7. Most memorable (funny or otherwise) experience from conference.
    Just think "silver g string."

Fantastic. beautiful weather and great music!
  2. What was your best party / highlight of conference?
    Movim/Basic party @ the Kent
  3. What was the worst party / lowlight of conference?
I really didn't go to anything that was bad
  4. Highlight track(s) of conference?
?? didn't have my trainspotting hat on, but it was great hearing "We Are" by Medicine8 out on a big system, the Solu Music mix of Astrid Suryanto's "Rainwater" and everything Terry Francis was dropping - damn.
  5. New talent: DJs ? producers ? live acts that really stood out at conference?
DJ Ali (I've never heard him play before, he brought it at the Movim party. I was very very impressed), Terry Francis (every punk-ass tech house DJ on the planet wishes they were Terry Francis, but they are not. He's the man. 'Nuff said), Astrid Suryanto's live performances (I'm probably biased, as promoting Astrid was the entire reason I was there, but she really is amazing. Incredible vocalist, producer and performer - and a lovely chica to boot!).
  6. Best Set: Who delivered the Top 3 sets of conference?
DJ Ali, Terry Francis, Tyler Stadius
  7. Most memorable (funny or otherwise) experience from conference.
gonna plead the 5th on that one. What happens in Miami, stays in Miami ;-)
  8. What's coming up next for you in 2004?
Hopefully great stuff! I try not to plan too far ahead though.

I heard loads of amazing records this year. One did stand out but I don't know the name.. er.. "Untitled" by Unknown. Little use, I know
  5. New talent: DJs ? producers ? live acts that really stood out at conference?
    Infusion.. absolutely massive!
  6. Best Set: Who delivered the Top 3 sets of conference?
Lee Burridge & Zabiela @ Nerve
    Steve Lawler @ State
Sasha, Digweed, JZ & Luke Fair @ Ultra Boat Party
  7. Most memorable (funny or otherwise) experience from conference.
DJs giving it the massive on the dancefloor. always good to see them enjoying the music from the other side of the decks.

Bumping into a promoter from the UK sat in the reception of the Sagamore absolutely off his nut at 11am, on his own, unable to string a sentence together, drinking beer.. after being up for 2 days. Was impressed to see him leaving Lawler @ State 18hours later.. going straight through.

  8. What's coming up next for you in 2004?
Hearing more sets from these guys.. JZ, Jon Lisle, Luke Fair, Paolo Mojo and DJ Three. Helping move the whole creative, visual and interactive platforms forward in music. Also, revamping Sasha's website, and gearing up for the release of his new album.
