how do i insert images?

do you have to insert a url to insert an image? when I click the image icon it brings up the tag [IMG]...?? I thought it would let me browse my drive & navigate to an image to upload. sorry if this is obvious and I don't get it or if it has been asked before.. I didn't find a thread that answered this for me when I searched.

if you want to post an image from your machine, you need to post an attachment.

tag is for displaying an webbased picture inline in a thread

like this [IMG]http://www.rhythmism.com/forum/images_minimal/mini_logo.gif

you'd nest the [img] tag with the [url] tag to make a picture a link.
