In a recent interview with LA electronic music scribe and DJ Dennis Romero of LA CityBeat & BPM Magazine, JOHN DIGWEED credits KAZELL, DESYN MASIELLO and NYC DJs Astro&Glyde as examples of artists having their own sound and bringing something fresh to the table.

Not digging it: I interviewed John Digweed today at his Los Angeles-area hotel room. I asked him what he thinks about "kids these days" -- the newer DJs who think banging the hot new tracks for one-hour makes them stars-in-the-making.
He pointed out that in every other city he visits the warm-up is some young jock who tries to sound just like him -- clearly having studied his playlist and purchased every Bedrock (his label) record he could get his hands on. Digweed chuckled. He said it's all about 1) finding one's own sound and, 2) being able to play appropriate sounds for different situations. Starting out playing at shit-hole venues from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. taught him how to warm it up, nice and easy. He also said the kinds of DJs he helps bring up via his label, radio shows and gigs -- people like KAZELL, DESYN MASIELLO and ASTRO&GLYDE -- have their own sounds and bring something fresh to the table.
The story, unfortunately, won't be published until March, which coincides with the release of his sublime Fabric 20 mix-CD.
