It's an exciting time for our friends at SAW.Recordings with a suprisingly different turn for maestro Matthias Heilbronn on SAW 037 : Like This out now, two new compilations by label co-honcho Satoshi Tomiie and their annual SAW*WMC party at favorite club space Angel Lounge (formerly Nerve Lounge - 243 23rd St, South Beach).
SAW037 Matthias Heilbronn "Like This" Release
Expect the unexpected. That could be the new mantra for Matthias Heilbronn. Already a dance music legend himself, Matthias has been DJing since 1981 at the age of 15 and has worked with producers such as Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry, Tommy Musto, C&C Music Factory and Francois K over his long industrious career. So just when you think you've got a producer pegged, they create a tune that is completely different from their normal sound.
When SAW.Recordings first heard Matthias Heilbronnユs track 'Like This', they knew it was something special and immediately signed it to their imprint. 'Like This' is an acid house affair that bumps along with lots of percussion and bass until halfway through it erupts into a beautiful piano riff taking the tune into an entirely different direction.
On the B-side, called 'Dub This' Matthias takes things darker by keeping the acid feel, but dropping the piano and letting the bass line ride out. Hereユs to wishing more tracks produced today were 'Like This'.
Satoshi Tomiie ES & ES-B
Satoshi Tomiie is releasing two compilation albums on SAW.Recordings respectively titled "ES" & "ES-B" with the first one dropping in May 2005. For Satoshi, the first album 'ES' represents what he thinks what House Music is = 'Electronic Soul' music and is also the initials for Satoshi and the SAW label.
The one disc mix will present a snapshot of Satoshi's set in a nightclub and will include tracks licensed from other labels as well as original SAW records. Look for the tracklisting to be announced here in April.
The second album 'ES-B' can be expected in July 2005. Its inspiration is drawn by Satoshi's summer DJ set in the beautiful setting at the white isle Ibiza's famed Caf・Mambo. It'll be a deep, funky, sexy mix with a touch of techy beats all made for the summer. If you've ever been there, you know the atmosphere is pure magic.
SAW*Winter Music Conference 2005
SAW.Recordings is excited to announce their return to 243 23rd St (former site of Nerve Lounge) for their annual SAW*WMC party on Wednesday, March 23. This year they'll be celebrating the release of their first ever artist album by Chab 'Dubs, Edits and Whisky-Coke.' Also be on the look out for the limited edition SAW t-shirts in collaboration with Stussy and special, new SAW.RECORDINGS flip flops - perfect for a day on the beach.
