Michael Corbin (Urban Prodctions)
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Michael Corbin has always struggled to combine his enormous passion for the art of music and the desire to see the World. In 1997, after returning to New York from Creamfield's August Bank Holiday weekend in Liverpool (UK) he finally gave into his unrequited passion for music and began his new career as a DJ.
Demonstrating unique combination of various influences and styles fused together, Michael has taken his sound to a higher level. Like no other he can translate his emotion into a melodic reality of deep, sensual, soulful, house music with gorgeous grooves for friendly crowds of serious dancers.
At age 27, Michael has fulfilled his passion with frequent DJ tours, remix opportunities and production work. In 2002, his DJ tours allowed him to share his love of music with fans around the world while playing in various international and national locals including New York, Miami, Amsterdam, London, Riga and Rio De Janeiro. With his new Hooj “One Nation” residency kicking off in Moscow, Russia, this year promises to be Michael’s busiest year to date.
Beverly Chills (Audio Mosaic Recordings)
Partners-in-crime Ben Kumar & Jean De Looz grew up together in NYC, literally & musically, drawing inspiration from mix sets by the future owner of Intec recordings, and productions from Jeff Mills & Adam Beyer.
Jean (sQuArejEan) was introduced to electronic music in the early 90's while growing up in NYC. After trekking down to Florida for college and successfully avoiding 'ridiculous amounts of breakbeats and alchohol/spring break-induced music' thanks to friend Hendrik Jaulin, Jean's style today still resides true to his origins -- influenced by modern day musicians such as Danilo Vigorito, Rino Cerrone, Onionz, Henrik B, Marco Carola, and Bryan Zentz, yet with much respect to those who started it all in Detroit.
Ben (Kumar) began his interactions with dance music in the late 1990s, after the underground dance movement had reached its PEAK. He started DJing in high school while living in Paris, influenced by the likes of Leftfield, Carl Cox's FACT I, Daft Punk and Kevin Saunderson. Soon Jean and Ben were practicing in their living rooms on ghetto, Fisher Price equipment in the summer of 1998, trying to beat match and hold down mixes.
Ben & Jean have been DJ'ing and producing under the moniker of Beverly Chills since 2001. In the spirit of their label Audio Mosaic Recordings, their recent productions comprise a true grooving mosaic of sounds-African tribal rhythms; glassy, jazzed out complex chords; filters; emotional, moving bass lines and retro-logic keyboards-a sort of fine distinction between the idealism of expressed feelings and the practicality of a thumping, driving rhythm. Trying to bridge a gap is always what is happening in music and these productions just aim at explaining that simple, yet very complicated fact.
Lets also not forget Kory -- back for his second stint with homegrown.. setting things off for us once again with his signature micro-tech-house sound.
