New wave comeback kings New Order march into NYC for a sold-out show tonight at the Hammerstein Ballroom and the *official* New Order after-party hosted by GBH at Hiro Ballroom with bassist Peter Hook spinning a special 2 hour DJ set. New Order are touring in support of their stellar new album WAITING FOR THE SIRENS' CALL with their first killer single "Krafty" quickly reasserting their top-shelf mantle.
Billboard.com (http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000903860) reported from Coachella that, despite lead singer Bernard Sumner hobbling around with what he described as a torn ligament in his foot, New Order rocked through an impressive 11-song set last night that ran from vintage staples like "Blue Monday," "Regret" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" to brand new fare like "Krafty," "Jetstream" and the title track from its new album, "Waiting for the Sirens' Call." The group also drew roars of approval when it dusted off Joy Division's "Atmosphere," "Transmission" and a rousing rendition of "Love Will Tear Us Apart."
