I once posted (on the last board) that Lee Burridge was a shitty DJ. I had seen him spin, but it was the Tyrant crew and it sucked and I wasn't having a good time that night and all these other factors added up to me thinking Lee sucked. I thought he was boring, basically.

Since then I have learned and heard many things. I went to see him spin at that Urban party near the Javits center and he rocked it, I caught him at ARc last time and he ROCKED it. The 24/7 CD is probably one of the most played CDs I own right now (especially since I found a copy that doesnt say 'global promo' over every mix.)

I have learned that Lee is NOT, by any interpretations, a progressive DJ. He is a sick fuckin house DJ who plays funky techy vibey breaky ill sick music. He is, in short, the man.

I just wanted to say I was wrong. I said he sucked and now he is pretty much my fav jock out there.

Lesson #1: dont dis something until you really know what its about, especially with music.

Lesson #2: Lee Burridge is the fuckin king

Yeah, Lee pumps it out big time. The performance he did w/ Craig last spring at Arc was psychotic. Deep inteligence at it's best,

He rocks :sip:

I work in the biz dude. sometimes its hard to pay for CDs when Lee's booking agent is dropping them off in your office. sorry I make you  you got a weak stomach

Having said that, I am someone who spends $ on music and I will undoubtedly be purchasing Lee's next disc at Virgin the day its out

Not sure exactly what you mean Leaf... Nick, did you buy 24/7? Whether Nick bought it or not, Lee Burridge is most certainly not getting the $ from those sales. Maybe a buck or two out of the 15.

1. i was half -joking . anyone who would say that someone who listens to burnt CDs makes them sick either is joking or really warped

2. i don't think the assumption was that far off though. He made assumptions about what type of music Lee Burridge spins and he was wrong....Ya see, Hooj, everyone makes assumptions. It just so happened i was wrong in this case...it happens from time to time

3. If i have a burnt CD in my changer that I really dig ...98% of the time i will go and buy the real thing.

4. Nick I'm sorry I assumed you were a pirate

5. Justin- I'm not very knowledgable on who gets what as far as record sales but I knew Lee had to get a little something. It's not wrong to think that if you really love a CD you should support the artist and buy the original...is it??

Well this is a question for debate. In principle your thoughts are very noble, and I agree with you. But it is very ironic that the artists generally amkes the same $ from a $2 digital sale of a track as from a $7-$12 sale of a 12". I cough my money up for records (plenty of it) and will continue to do so, but I don't feel too bad about burning here and there too. Since the cost to the consumer is so high, relatively, you often end up not getting everything you would want, and then the music fan and the artists suffer while those in the middle take the $. A debate worth having, for sure.

I agree that CDs are way over priced... $7-8 dollars would be fair for a single CD in my mind . I'm all for taking albums/mixes for a test drive before you buy them ....i know that i would be out of all much dinero if i didn't.....but if I like it i buy it. I'm a little out of the loop on 12" sales...so i really can't comment.

btw- I wish the fabric series would accept Amex

The debate on how much Lee sees for per CD sale is almost a mute point.

For the amount of records Global Underground will sell overall, especially in America, Lee's portion is a relatively tiny chunk of change. Lee makes his money DJing and having a CD out that showing some sales makes it easier for his agent to book him.

CDs do two things. Make money for labels and increase artists profile so they can get more, higher paying gigs.

So you're really jipping the labels by not buying somthing, which, as far as I'm concerned is worse than jipping the artist. If we could see how much Lee makes for a gig I'm sure no one would feel so bad about him not making too much from his deal with GU

I saw Lee Burridge w/ James Zabeila @Nerve at the WMC, and they fucking RIPPED it. The place was jumping all nite. It was definitely the most energetic party I went to during the whole week, not to mention the best music. Very innovative sets from both Burridge and Zabeila, not to mention the tag team effort the last hour...
