sucks ass, imo. then again, i was 18 the last time i was there and really couldn't have any fun. i hate gambling, tourist traps and "family entertainment" so i know it's not for me. everyone i know who's gone out at night have told me that the clubs are CHEEEEEEEZE to the extreme, especially after experiencing the clubs in NYC. there are always lots of rednecks in town and if you go in the summer the temperature is going to be over 120 degrees. for some reason Oly, even though i don't know you personally, i would think that you would totally hate a place like Las Vegas

Vegas is so fuckin' cheesy it's cool. It's just so over the top on everything you just have to get in the mindset of being a complete jackass yourself like everyone else there. It actually ends up being pretty fun and quite liberating to be such a jackass and actually get away with it.

i don't think Texas is mentally ready for you. give it a few decades

some place new, eh? have you done Spain yet? Arsetralia? New Zealand? All of those are great, warm places with beaches and good party atmosphere. I just got back from Istanbul and must say that I had a great time but I know it probably would have been 5 times better had i gone in the summer. Turkish beaches are made for partying and relaxing

I am going there next week for a wedding.
:(
Well, maybe :) if I can get some sun.
I don't care about the gambling or the over-the-top shows and stuff.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I have lived here since august.
The club scene, save what spundae does, really blows. Lots of cracky weekly's at bars/smaller venues, but the clubs in the casinos charge a lot of money for drinks/cover for shit music.

Fun Vegas clubnights:
Thursday Desert Sessions-Spundae at Risque(paris hotel)
80's night at the house of blues in Mandalay bay
Monday Nights at Foundation Room atop Mandalay bay.

Only go to the palms to gamble and stare at some stunning women.

That's it for really good underground 4/4 and beats.

For food:
Picasso at bellagio
aureole at mandalay bay
Prime at Bellagio
Delmonicos at Venetian
Grand Luxe cafe at venetian
Pink Taco at hard rock. Great casino too. Rock n Roll, loud and boozy.

If you need anything out there email me.

I just got back from Vegas...overall I say it's a cool place to visit for a short trip.
I didn't get to any of the clubs, but my friend (who lives there) suggested Drai's for afterhours.
We stayed at his house for a few days which is about 20 minutes west of the strip, in the land of strip malls. Every possible franchise in the country is represented out there. It looks a lot like Florida.

I enjoyed hanging out and people watching at Mandalay Bay (younger crowd) and they have some great restaurants. Other places I visited and didn't mind spending a little time at were New York, Luxor, Ceasar's Palace, Bellagio (beautiful lobby and topiary garden), Aladdin (the Desert Passage was a cool environment), and the Palms (the least flashy of all the places).
I stayed at Monte Carlo (which wasn't that exciting), they have a decent brewpub that serves these giant tubes filled with their own beer.

I also went to MGM, Tropicana, Boardwalk, and some of the places on Fremont Street (the old part of town) which were crappy. The Fremont Street Experience was really cool though...it's a 4 block pedestrian-only street with a giant screen ceiling spanning the entire length—in which they show animated graphics set to music every hour. They'd have a space shuttle at one end of the block and make it launch all the way to the other end. That whole area is so bad, it's good. Live band playing Sweet Home Alabama, tons of neon, fried twinkies.

I'd suggest going to Vegas with at least 4 friends, the more the merrier. And bring all the cash you want to spend...the atms have a $4 surcharge.
