too bad he isn't as creative in the actual production of the tracks as he is with their names

sounds nice...
quality.
Maya...you have a personal riff with him or something? You gotta admit his tracks are produced well. Producing as much stuff as he does it may tend to all sound a bit similar.

tru. don't get me wrong. i LUV jay tripwire. i particularly love 'if it would only stop raining'. my personal fav. i played this track on roxy's phazon and i swear the bass mid track made the whole floor in the booth shake...hence making me bounce. kinda hard to cue while bouncing.
neways, i will agree his stuff tends to sound similar, but w/ grant dell's productions. i don't get that and they both have similar styles. y is that?
i think with jay's stuff, i think he's innovative how he brings in the bass. i wish he would do that more. like coming in with short burst bass beats then all of a sudden a nice deep lush beats. he sometimes does that crazy shit, he should do more of it. :toke:

I have the earliest of Grant Dell's and Tribilation records on Skint and on Big Chief.
I gave up soon after.
More often than not. I find that an artist(s) reveal a new trend or sound that's unique.
Then every label jumps on that artists junk and the artist just keeps coming out with the same old formulated arrangments and sounds.
It's a shame. I have allot of records by artists (Tony Thomas for instance) who just keep churning out for labels; over and over and over...

not at all! And that might have come off a bit harsh... I was half kidding. He does get a great, groundbreaking idea every once in a while... but then he seems to use the same idea in 15 subsequent tracks.... until he comes up with something else... repeat cycle. Just what I've observed. you don't have to agree with me.
and as you said, producing as much as he does it may tend to all sound a bit similar... that's a sign that he's producing too much maybe? I'm all about quality over quantity. that's just me.

I like some Tripwire and some Grant Dell. Jeff Bennett is an example for me of someone who provides a lot of similar sounding tracks, but has more diversity within that similarity, to a point. I have this Tripwire on Cove records that is the shit - love his remix of Eli Bingham "Teenage Wasteland" on Movim too.

ok people. i have both these cats on my label and you guys have not heard jay's new sound and it is total different then is old productions, yes some of his production sound samey but everyone has their own sound and follow a formula, but wait you will see. Grant stuff sounds similar but he is a great producer and were he gets his vocal samples, i have no idea. its all personal opinion, but both these guys get their music signed and sell records. The rescue is great!!!! grant does funky shit like on detour and techy too, they make music for the dance floor and keep peoples boxs full.

Although many of his tracks have the same type of elements to them, I dig that shit - Thats his sound. And everyone isnt going to like every track you turn out, Thats why we have variety....

You don't have to love them Maya - it's a trestament to the fact that you actually have your own passions for sound that you don't juts lap up whatever these cats do (a lot of people do that). Like I said, I like some of what they both have done; for me, I like more of Grant's releases but I still like a lot of Tripwire's stuff (new remix of Seinan on Tronicsicle is pretty hot).
But you gotta dig for what you like... that'll always make you sound better (highly original, I know). Just because I like Grant and I like Tripwire doesn't mean I'm gonna run out and grab everything they put out.
