Andy C is to play a 3hr set @ Sankeys Soap, Manchester on the 11th June!!! Roni Size is also there - LIVE.

Longest Andy C set in UK ever, as far as I know. Be there!

I'm even considering jumping on a train for this

why do dnb djs always play such short sets? even techno djs play longer

Because the promoters know that more big names on the flyer means more people come to the nights. The Drum and Bass scene in this country on the surface is SHIT. Loads of nights with 9 DJs doing an hour set with no change in pace the whole night, hearing the same tune 5/6/7 times (sometimes with a rewind as well  ).

This is why I rarely go out to these places anymore, I head to more purist (read: pretentious) DnB nights where the DJs either get longer or are put on the lineup in such a way that the line-up itself changes pace throughout the night - ie, Makoto then Bukem then High Contrast then Krust, getting darker through the night.

There's a massive call in this country for DnB DJs to get longer sets, not least by Andy C himself. However, unfortunately, the DnB crowd as a whole don't really care or realise how boring the raves can get.

***edit*** when I say the scene is shit, that's somewhat harsh. There is an immense amount of talent on show every night of the week, but longer sets is a necessity to keep the people who REALLY LOVE the music in the scene.

i figured it was $

i guess when all the djs live in the same city, its easy for a promoter to book 8 of them- not like he has to fly them in or anything.

However, I'm not the only Bass-hed who would be happier with 4 2 hour sets, or a variety of set lengths. I mean, my 3 fave nights are Progression Sessions (Bukem + 2 guests do 2 hours normally), Ram Records (Andy C does 2 hours) and Therapy Sessions (there's a 2 hour set there sometimes)
