San Miguel presents SonarClub London
as a preview of Sónar 2004

Advanced Music is bringing an exciting
flavour of progressive music to Ocean in
London on 4 June to launch Sónar 2004.
Repeating last year’s highly successful
SonarClub experience, the artistic programme
this year will feature the multiple styles and
sounds that eleven years on have turned Sónar
into a frontline trademark.

Sponsored by San Miguel, the main
sponsor of the Sónar Festival, SonarClub
will be the calling card for Sónar 2004
and the meeting point for the festival’s
fans in the UK.

SonarClub 2004 Programme:

Ocean 1

21:00 :: DJ 2D2
He is undoubtedly one of the most highly talked about names on the Barcelona club scene. The secret of his success is no other than an exquisite and engaging selection of beats and breaks. Lot’s of old school rap, a bit of drum’n’bass and the latest in hip-hop underground.

22:00 :: RJD2 (4 decks show + A/V)
With his newly released “Since We Last Spoke”, RJD2 has once again proved that he could release an album every bit as surprising as “Deadringer” and that his name undoubtedly deserves a place on the altar of non orthodox hip-hop.

23:45 :: Vitalic live
In the wake of his new Ep for Citizen Records, the Ukrainian Vitalic’s best continues to be his spectacular "Pony EP", a record with a tinge of the eighties, freakism and first rate techno which still brings down the dancefloor almost three years on.

00:25 :: Jeff Mills
In the avant-garde of electronics and light years away from other pretenders to the throne, Jeff Mills makes it clear to us time after time that his concept of mix and dance music forges ahead opening up new perspectives for the techno genre beyond commonplaces, speed, precision, personality and lots of character.

Ocean 2

21:00 :: Dj Food - Strictly Kev
Strictly Kev, aka Dj Food, is possibly one of the dj's with the greatest amount of personality and charisma on the international electronics scene. He is one of the acclaimed artists on Ninja Tune and has won worldwide fame thanks to the ease and ingenuity with which he mixes the best of every style: funk, hip-hop, soul, pop and drum'n'bass.

22:00 :: DJ Marlboro
The flagship of carioca funk, a kind of Braz booty bass, sexual and hyper-rhythmic. Fernando’s work both as a DJ and producer is paradigmatic of an underground movement which mobilises thousands of people every weekend. What people are dancing to in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

00:00 :: Richard X
Crackling basslines, his growing reputation as a booty tracks wizard together with hefty collaborations with the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Kelis, Tiga, and Liberty X, are what launched Richard X to the top of the podium, making him what he is today: one of the big time names of contemporary pop made in the United Kingdom.

01:30 :: Andy Fletcher (Depeche Mode) dj set
Keyboard player with the historical Depeche Mode and the godfather of Client, the latest revelation of the new wave of synth-pop, Andy Fletcher will demonstrate that he is not only a good musician but also a magnificent selector when he turns his eye to the eighties.

Unfortunately an exam on the 7th means this is a no-no. Would love to see RJD2, Food, Mills and Vitalic. Nevermind, just have to go see Orbital's last ever London gig instead. :D
