if you eat in Pacha's restaurant you get free entry to the club after.
and the food is fantastic! Just make sure you spend at least 50 euros per person on dinner.
We're having my wife's birthday dinner there on July 11th :)

You could have a good time for under 3k if you go later in the season- last year I went mid-late September, and it was a lot cheaper than when i've been in june/july- I stayed in a simple, but decent hotel (clean, air conditioning, safe) in Figueretas (5 minute walk to ibiza, cheap cab ride to/from Space) for only 38 euros a night - I saved a lot of $ = free passes were being given out (for la troya/fake, meganite monza, etc.) on salinas, at bora-bora and in the ibiza bars- also, if you eat in Pacha's restaurant you get free entry to the club after - the weather was fantastic, clubs/bars/beaches/restaurants are full, but not so packed as to be too uncomfortable-right now iberia has tickets for mid-september for about $900...prices go up 1st weekend of october for closing parties.
now were getting somewhere
where is the best place to go for free shit and handouts
the beaches?
i may do that pacha resty thing before david guetta

end of June? You aren't getting many free passes... but if you do, Salinas is a popular beach for promoters to hand out free shit. You can always ask the people at the bars, but I'd have a few drinks first.

another thing, if you do go to Pacha restaurant... you have to ask to get in to the club... they don't just walk you in to the club after you eat.

is it really? see that might be an option...we are trying to figure out when we are going to pacha...we all want to go, and i didn't get a chance to in 06 - but the lineups elsewhere are just too good. maybe we'll eat there & start out one night at pacha before heading elsewhere. i'm sure you'll have lots of tips on what's best this summer after your trip :arr:

Yes, it's really good. They have amazing sushi  along with an other assortment of fusion cuisine.
We're going there on 7/11, that way after dinner it's into the club for Sander K and Basement Jaxx :D

Yeah, just ask the waiter... tell him you want to go into the club.
edit: fyi - the waiter will look at your bill before he lets you in though... make sure you spend >50 euros.

You will find some restaurants/stores do, but if you can, use a visa... because you'll also find that a lot of places don't. I'd say more do not accept amex, than do... in my experience.

sorry didn't realize you were going end of june- definitely a lot harder to score free passes then, but they are out there- salinas is a very good option, and you will probably want to spend a day there anyway- i've heard that the staff at bora bora give out a lot of passes- last year an acquaintance told me he ate there a few afternoons and was offered wristbands to amnesia (although it could have been for the lame foam party:sick: ). Bars up in the castle/dalt vila area usually have passes for the gay parties- which in ibiza are pretty mixed, and well worth going- especially La Troya. Noctambula is another good bar in that area, although the crowd can get a bit cracked out (i think it's somehow connected/run by circoloco crew:evil: )

there is a bus that runs from Ibiza (Town Center) to Salinas- the road to Salinas is amazing, as it passes through ancient Roman Salt flats, from which they are still harvesting sea salt today- i think the bus is only 2 euros. once at salinas there are five or six beach front restaurants/bar, most of them have resident djs although the new noise restrictions last year made for a quieter, more laid back atmosphere...don't miss Sa Trinxa at the end of the beach (Jockey club is also great, but food/drinks are very expensive)

They started making it quieter at Salinas back in 2005... around the time that they covered DC10 and built the new terrace at Space.
The salt fields are really cool, the way that they reflect the sun is awesome :arr: I definitely agree, check out Sa Trinxa, fun place to wind down your day at the beach before heading back to town.
and another thing, the beachfront restaurants at Salinas... they aren't very cheap. and bring a towel, renting chairs/umbrellas there is mucho dinero.

from the ibiza-voice review:
The music is near-perfect for the cloudless skies and sea of smiles. While lovers of the relic of ten-minute epics with brooding basslines and twitching clicks and shuffled, reverbed minimalism may have been shaking their heads, music, like anything, moves on, and 2008 will be the year that house music returns in earnest to DC10. In reflection, to those heading to the back end of the airport for the first time, some of the previous years' soundtrack may almost seem like anti-music, but regeneration is the lifeblood of Ibiza, and this year will be no different. Melody, soft percussion, variation, pace (and even vocals) dominated. The BPM limiter appeared to be well and truly broken as Tanzmann's ethereal beats, and Tania Vulcano 's muscular music carried the mood even higher.
Fittingly, Luciano was to close out the terrace. The place where he seems most at home, Circo Loco seems to bring out the best in the Chilean, and in a familiarly ram-packed booth, he made the last two hours his own. Gone were the harsh memories from the start of the previous season, and, as the terrace and main room reverberated to the music that DC10 and Circoloco calls its own, this felt like a new beginning for a club that some thought may not see its opening fiesta this year. Many things change on the island, but today, Circoloco proved it is as enduring and as phenomenal as it's ever been. DC10 is dead. Long live DC10!

saw luciano twice this week, once in paris, when he tag-teamed with Dubfire at the Rex Club (laurent's place) and at DC-10.
yes, luciano was playing house. . . his own style of minimal house beats and weird overlaid instumentals. (not really my bag.) the terrace was RAMMED. uncomfortably so, but everyone was in a great mood.
searches are still prevalent at DC-10 and now la guarda has a little hut ATTACHED to the club, so they will be a presence there for the summer.
btw - all clubs doing afternoon parties open at 4:30pm and must be done by 12 midnight. no exceptions.

more about the zoo project:
As you may or may not know The Zoo Project is the finest Underground party in Ibiza. In most of the other parties, you will find the people that you dont want to party with.
You are only able to get into The Zoo Project if you:-
Get given a special invitation by one of The Zoo Project crew.
Meet someone who is part of The Zoo Project group and they sell you a ticket.
Arrive on the door with friends who have an invitation
Or if you have a workers pass.
This is so that the event is kept underground and the right crowd return week after week.
If you need an invite or ticket, please message me and I will see if it can be arranged

I don't know, but all that comes to my mind is goa trance... but I doubt that's what this party is about.
check the ibiza-spotlight forums, there's a thread about it. I would, but it's blocked from my work.
edit: btw - I think I was wrong about this being the first season, this party may have started last year. Regardless, I have no idea what it's about.

Not really... we booked our flights and hotel early so got some good deals. r/t EWR to FRA was $750ea and r/t FRA to IBZ was just under $400ea
the dollar sucks, but as long as you stay away from $32 Budweisers in the clubs, it's manageable. plus we started saving the day we got back last year :nice:
we also plan on hitting Salinas, Calla d'Hort, Atlantis, the folk dancing exhibit in either San Miguel or Dalt Villa, Kumharas, Underground, Bambhudda Grove, and El'Ayoun and Mao Rooms if they're still around

i'm going to call and see what the weight limit on the luggage is. since we are staying in barcelona one night, going to ibiza and then coming back to the same hotel in barcelona, i'm thinking of asking the hotel to keep some of my luggage there. it's worked for a few people i know, just depends on the hotel being able to hold on to it.

Besides Cocoon at Amnesia (Villaloboas is the MAN) id have to say Cala D'Hort. You come around the bend and look down the road to a protected bay that is several shades of blue and green and everything in between and Es Vedra is just WHAM right in front of your face. This year is extremely different... and not "for the better" :nonono:
We were having dinner one night with the head public relations guy for Pacha (he's a friend of the guy we stayed with) and he was saying the same thing, people just aren't going like they used to. Too much trouble, not after parties, no day parties... it's sort of like going anywhere else now... just that the parties are better.
btw - thanks for that night at cocoon... best time that I ever had at Amnesia. Seriously, amazing party
Villalobos for the win!
If anyone knows the name of a track thatis being played a lot, has a woman singing in spanish, a whistle, and what sounded like a bell being hit... must.have.song. Heard it at cocoon, twice on ibiza sonica (during the cocoon radio show)... the song is just amazing. please help. ;)
edit: come to think of it, I'm not even 100% sure that she was singing in spanish  :nonono:  was definitely a woman though!

The venue is cool, has amazing potential, but unless you like hanging out with 20-22 year old san an brits, stay away. We paid 40 euros each at the door, and were out of there in about an hour. :nonono:

i think July-Aug is when the younger crowds go (i mean under 25) -Brits, Italians, German, etc etc
in September esp towards the end of the month, it is slightly better.
this year i am going (fingers crossed) at the very end of Sept (again).
any places you recommend for nice dinner?

La Oliva in Dalt Vila. We love that place... we go every year. :) It's really, really good.
http://www.ibiza-restaurants.com/laoliva/
Also, I don't know the name, but if you go to Cala D'Hort, right at the bottom of the road that leads to the beach, there's a restaurant there that makes a really good seafood paella. You can't miss it, it's the only one. It's on your left.
Oh yeah, they just opened a planet sushi a couple of hundred meters from pacha... skip it. Maybe go for drinks to check it out, because it's really nice, but for dinner, not so much.

The clubs compliment the villas and scenery, its like a ying and yang type of thing without being too harsh. Nothing like NY clubs. I loved it because it reminded me of Space Miami and Nikki Beach. Glamorous and beachy at the same time. You can just be yourself or whoever you want to be. People in flip flops shorts and bathing suits or in full out costumes. At least i think they were costumes.

My friend has gotten all of his tats there. Apparently there are some really good South American tattoo artists that go there for the summer. More money to be made in Ibiza than in Argentina.
While we were there one of his friends had just gotten one, came out really nice too... problem is, I'm not sure where he had it done.
This weekend, I promise...

ibiza's well known for the quality of their tatoos; but personal stories/information always help.

If you want to be in the town, el puerto is probably your best option. I took the apartment over the hotel room because it had a fridge.
As for all my previous visits, I stayed at Mar Blau up above Ibiza-town, adjacent to d'alt villa. Family run place, no a/c, but the owner, Juan is so nice and the place is much more peaceful than being directly in town. About a 7 minute walk downhill to ibiza-town in one direction and figuretas in the other. On the cliff overlooking the sea, half the rooms have spectacular views.

In 2006, I stayed at the Jet Apartments... It was fine... Pretty basic, no frills place. Space is a 10 minute walk. DC-10 & Ibiza Town are a short cab ride away. Also you're right next to Bora Bora. I'm not sure whether that's a good or bad thing... Only downside is that it can get pricey, especially around this time if you don't book early... Definitely worth a shot...

amnesia - new terrace, beautiful space, cocoon was packed but we carved out a place on the stairs...sven vath was just fantastic and this crowd was SO up for it. awesome to meet up w/ bill :D
stayed in figueretas which was convenient & had a clean & beautiful beach. great seafood. amazing sangria.

word. finally saw pacha, but amnesia remains my favorite space.
Did you eat at the restaurant?
I used to like Pacha more, they've changed the set up now, so the only way up or downstairs is right behind the dj booth... it's a cluster fuck over there now.
:)

Did anyone check out Monza @ Privilege?
They have some great line-ups and I always wanted to see Privilege during a packed party. As an architectural space, I always thought that it was the most interesting on the island. It definitely has this weird retro 80's feel that is kinda cool and really different
Their closing party line-up is crazy:
Luciano
M.A.N.D.Y.
Melchior Productions (live)
Raresh
Rhadoo
Ricardo Villalobos

Yes, it was a good party, but I liked it better when it was at Space.
BTW - You will never see priviledge packed unless you go for Tiesto. Manumission used to pack it (and it was quite a sight), but the fact is that it just doesn't get filled anymore, for anything other than Tiesto.

The run down:
First Sunday at space was gruesome, but what wouldn't be after partying in Frankfurt for 3 days? (Cocoon, Robert Johnson, and U63011 are all amazing) Lawler and Miss Kitten were the stand out sets. Finally saw Erol Alkan and was under-impressed. Great track selection, zero programming, but it rocked the crowd and the people danced so my opinion doesn't matter.
Skipped DC-10 as we couldn't justify paying 40 euros for something that's just not what it used to be. I was fortunate to go to DC-10 when it was 10 euros, had no roof, and was rocking by 10am. We thought it best to save our energy for Cocoon, and it paid off.
6 straight hours of dancing on the sub directly across the main booth. Tiefschwarz killed it and Sven was, well... Sven. I really don't have words for it, it's that amazing. Every time. Without fail.
Tuesday went to Bora Bora, met Ibiza Spider-man, and spent Tuesday night on the Sunset Strip. Ibiza wouldn't be half of what it is without Mambo.
Wednesday Picotto gave us the business at Privelege. Wish we could've stayed longer, but we headed over to Space for LaTroya only to learn DJ Oliver wasn't playing that night :(
Thursday caught DT @ space and it was truly spectacular. From the music to the show, everything was over the top and insane. It reminded me of manumission at it's peak. This party is what every party in Ibiza should be.
Friday we caught a double dose of Sander. First at Mambo then again at Pacha with Axwell, who if I wasn't such a die hard Sander fan, would admit played the better set that evening. On a side note, if you get a bottle at Pacha Ibiza, don't do the conversion math in your head until after you've paid :sip:
Saturday we hit the zoo party. I had actually been to Gala Night before and didn't realize this was the same venue until we got there. It was cool at first hanging poolside and listening to zee minimal techno then raging at the seal den with the onslaught of performers and percussionists, but eventually we tired of the fucked up, obnoxious brits who seemed to be everywhere. Seriously, they make a mess of everything. We'd always see a few too fucked up, or passed out in the street on the way back to the hotel. Disgusting. We even saw how they literally hose down the west end in the morning...but in short, party and music good, people bad. :(
Sunday we headed to Blue Marlin, but couldn't get a table without a reservation. Instead, we headed next door to Yamanja, and thank god we did! Hands down the best Sangria Blanco I've ever had in my life. Exceptional service (rare in Ibiza), and simply amazing food. I will definitely return there next year.
Sunday at Space part II for more of the same. Stand out sets from DJ Mehdi, Busy P, Felix, Sasha and Zebilia.
Monday, still couldn't bring ourselves to pay 40 euros for DC10 :P but did head to Cocoon again for one mental evening. Got to meet Regina and the girls, and we actually spent some time on the terrace. Sven was Sven and we were fortunate to meet him after the party when he was hanging out... with DT! I could only imagine what a 20 person capacity after hours at Sven's would be like with him and DT...
Trip home sucked.
end of story.

i agree with this...i wouldn't have missed it for anything, even at the price b/c i think it's still the best music on the island (or anywhere). the energy was a bit different, definitely more packed and aggressive, but tania vulcano made up for any change in atmosphere. really happy this was open while we were there.
couple other tidbits - yes we did eat @ pacha restaurant, it was outstanding. amazing sushi, cerviche, salmon, ecclectic menu. yum. beautiful club too but eric morillo = thumbs down. way down.
another great restaurant - priciple in figuretas. YUM. free shots too.

SUPERFREQ are hosting an arena at the Mini Festival "WILD LIFE ON ONE" to be held at Benimusa Zoo near San Antonio, Ibiza on September 24th 2008.
Here's the details:
Wiggle, Let It Play, Superfreq, Mulletover, Freak N Chic & Joe Upton are proud to present their first ever collaboration in Ibiza. In September they bring you their (aptly named) Wildlife On One party to a disused zoo in the heart of Benimussa on the outskirts of San Antonio. These six underground Promoters will continue their philosophies: 'To provide a consistently high standard of affordable Events that offer not just 'another night out' but a unique, cutting edge experience - and to celebrate the amalgamation of their individual musical styles'. With six areas of dance music and entertainment throughout the day and night, plenty of great food, a cheap bar, two pool areas, a casino & Function One sound systems in all six areas… they promise you an outdoor party like no other.
Arena 1 - Mulletover:
Manu L, Geddes, Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones
Arena 2 - Superfreq:
Mr C, Dollz At Play, Adult Napper, Luke VB, Ryan O'Connor.
Arena 3 - Wiggle:
Nathan Coles, Terry Francis, Fred Everyware, Evil Eddie Richards, Liz Edwards, Little Mike.
Arena 4 - Freak N Chic:
Dyed Soundorom, Marc Antona (Live), Dan Ghenacia , Suel (Live).
Arena 5 - Bes Ibiza & Zoo Project :
Jo Mills, Alex Wolfenden
The Zoo project's very own Clint Lee, De fex and Jean Cedric.
Barbeque hosted by: :
Let it Play & their infamous Funk Casino
All proceeds go to: Help Free Tibet
Hope to see all of you freaks there?
Hugs.
-x-R.

After a looooong recovery period, I've finally weeded through my 400 pics.
We arrived to an absolutely torrential downpour, the likes of which Ibiza has not seen in a long while from my understanding.
Formentera
Drenched and tired, we rested up Friday night then hit Formentera all day Saturday. Gorgeous. Undoubtedly one of my favorite places on earth.

Privilege & Pacha
Saturday night a friend of a friend was playing the didgeridoo alongside a local DJ at Privilege, so we spent a few hours there then closed the night at Pacha. I'd never been to Pacha Ibiza, and it truly is an impeccable venue. David Morales and Satoshi Tomiie rocked a very expat (read: British) crowd and beautiful dancers and performers rounded out a pretty calm first night on the dancefloor.

Las Salinas
Sunday we headed out to Las Salinas to enjoy Sa Trinxa. Fantastic. Great people watching, a (only mediocre) chiringuita and beautifully chill Balearic beats accompanied by a live sax player made for a relaxing day. We watched the sunset then headed back to change for Sundays at Space.

We Love Sundays at Space
We went straight to Discoteca for Jeff Mills but he was not really doing it for us - it was very Detroit but a little too technical and lacking soul so we moved to the Terraza. I was devastated to have missed Ben Watt, but we caught the end of Paul Woolford, then Steve Lawler who really laid it down. A bit formulaic in the builds, but who cared??
The set was everything Ibiza is and should be - high energy and absolutely banging. Not a frown in the place. Sadly we only stayed a few hours as I really wanted to get in a real nights' sleep before Monday's debauchery, so as you can imagine, it was still packed and throbbing when we and walked back to our apartment in Playa d'en Bossa around 5am.

Playa D'en Bossa and Monday in Ibiza
Monday I woke up early to make sure the troops had the proper sustenance for the day that awaited us. Monday in Ibiza! As I told my partner in crime Gracie (an Ibiza virgin :D), Mondays truly never are the same once you have experienced how they celebrate the beginning of the week in the Balearic Isles...
We spent a couple hours at Playa d'en Bossa enjoying the sun sand and warm water and caught the beginning of Bora Bora - the music starts pumping at 4:30 on the nose - before changing and heading out.

Circo Loco at DC-10
Circo Loco remains one of my favorite parties of all times. I can not explain how happy I am that we were able to make it in its few active weeks, especially considering they were just shut down again for a full year, before they even had the opportunity to host their season closing party. Truly no better place to lose one's self on a Monday afternoon
A veritable carnival, the characters, music and energy all delivered as expected. Team Loco (yes, we brought the uniforms back!) caught Timo Maas and Tania Vulcano then headed inside to chill in the lounge area. The dark and dirty beats at 8pm were seriously sick and lured us to the dancefloor immediately. DC10 might be the only place I can accept sweating it out on a packed dark dancefloor to music that dark before the sun even sets. We bounced around to Raresh for a bit on the terrace but tore ourselves away in order to avoid the crowds at Amnesia.

Cocoon Closing at Amnesia
A quick change and shower and we hit Cocoon's closing. Armed with our inflatable picture frames, I spent the night snapping portraits of the cast of characters, probably 100 portraits, all told! Sven and Villalobos absolutely destroyed and by 6am we called it quits and stumbled into a cab sweaty, tired and unable to dance any longer.
