In light of the recent events with the NY stop on the tour, I'll be making a trek to Detroit July 4th weekend for the last stop, July 4. Anyone want to come/meet up there?

Anyone have good tips on getting a cheap flight/good place to stay?

thanks.

What's the venue?

Cheapest flights I've seen are on Northwest, LGA-DTW, Saturday-Monday, $200-230.

Holiday Inn Express, the Pontch, or the Courtyard might work. I've heard decent things about the St. Regis, which is cheap and far from downtown on Woodward, but that may not matter.

Check the Movement forums on Detroitluv...the "Travellers" section has plenty of hotel advice.

If I come back to Cleveland for a wedding that Sunday, I *might* drive up.

What happened to the Volume venue? Where was the party held? How was it?

Word is that Acquaviva is booked for Tastefest in Detroit on 7/4, so that leads us to believe that Richie will be playing a proper night party (and not Tastefest), but the venue hasn't been announced/ disclosed yet.

Shorecrest Motor Inn is a good, cheap hotel within walking distance from hart Plaza. If you want a nicer place check out the Ponchutrain(sp?)

I don't know if I'll be making it, because of a wedding...

Here's a little update: Still no venue announced, but Paxahau is thorwing it, and that's unusual since Hawtin usually throws his own parties in Detroit, but Paxahau always throws quality parties. Their last had Speedy J and Chris Leibing playing together for 5 hours in the main room w/ Mathew Dear and Derek Plaslaiko playing together in the basement followed by a 2 hour live PA w/ Mathew Jonson and then Deadbeat and Monolake were playing in the chillout upstairs spot. Good stuff.

If the Shorecrest is good enough for Maurizio and the Basic Channel crew, it's good enough endorsement for anyone.

As a one-time foreign Techno dignitary, I too have stayed at the Shorecrest.
