If I'm not mistaken, the software this board runs on has a reputation function where you can comment on specific posts by others. I think that'd be a great feature for yous guys to enable.

Yes, we've considered it.
Thanks.

I don't understand. alls we do is comment on specific posts by others. That's what a messageboard is, no?

The board software has a feature that allows members to vote on other members. it's kind of a scale from -1000 - 1000 or something. It's a weird way of letting the community vote on who has good things to contribute and punish people who don't. self-moderation
it's an interesting idea but the implementation is actaully kind of convoluted. It's also probably more appropriate for discussion forums with a professional subject matter than an insane asylum like this place.

We'd give each other bad marks left and right just to be obnoxious. Then we'd all end up with a rating of -1000 and the whole thing would become meaningless.
(Tom would get -1001 though.)

thanks for the description. yeah, I don't really see the sense in it. Like Katie said, we'd just abuse it to death at first and after three days probably wouldn't even use it at all.
maybe try it out in one of the forums first for a while to see how it goes but I really don't see a need for it.
imo of course.

I think the voting idea stinks and am happy that the admins didn’t include it.
Honestly. This is a huuuuuge forum. And it has enough cliques already. The status of each poster is obvious within a week or so of reading the forums without having a rating.

I agree. What might be cool is seeing the percentage of postings each user has in each forum.
