I sent 3, but none are showing up in my Sent Items folder.
Max, did you get the one I sent to you just now?

Same deal here. I can't tell if they went through. And when I tried to send another i got a screen that said I couldn't post a new thread within 60 seconds or something.
*edit* Nevermind. I am an idiot and didn't see the checkbox for saving sent msgs.

Ok, so my PM's are going through but they're not being stored in my Sent Items folder.
Did I miss an option?

Ok I see the misc options at the bottom of the send screen. When you try to send a message within the 60 second window and you had the "save in Sent Items" box checked, the check box is cleared when you get the error message.

No not an idiot... that checkbox is much farther down the screen and you don't see it right away if you don't scroll down.

OK I admit it- when i send a PM, I obsessively check my 'sent' folder right away to ensure that it did ineed send. And also, sometimes I can't remember whether I sent a PM or just THOUGHT about sending it, and I check the 'sent' folder for that too.
my point is, it doesn't seem to be working -- I've sent 2 PMs but my sent folder is empty. I checked my settings and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it on or off to save sent mail.
Also, I have my settings set to give me a pop-up when I get a PM, and this hasn't been happening.

p.s. Random positive thougt: Although I miss the old name a little, I'm pretty psyched about the fact that never again will someone walk past my cube and say "Naughty WHAT?" and think I'm cruising porn at work. :)

What browser and OS are you using... this might help us to figure out the issue as well.

OS 10.2, internet exploder.
I got one pop-up (for commando's message, haha) but the others did not pop.

By default, you do not save sent messages. You can save your outgoing PMs by checking the "Save message in 'Sent Items'" option under the PM text field.
We did this because on many other boards, people tend to forget that their sent items folder can fill up preventing them from receiving new ones. We hope this change will help alleviate that oversight.
If you want a more robust messaging solution, there's always email.

people should keep this in mind.
PMs are not to replace email.
With the above implemented change if you want to save a sent PM you have to choose to do so. The majority of the stuff that people send is forgettable and just clogs up their allocation, so this should hopefully keep PMs a flowing. The new PMs interface is really cool and shows you how close to your allocation you are getting too.

OK, so the check box is a resonably good idea to not clog up the sent
messages folder.
I know the message tracking feature is available, and also the capability
to revoke a PM. Are there good reasons these are not available ??? They
seem like nice options.

Yes, there is a good reason those features are not available.
Look for them in future releases. ;)

1) Thumbs up to the feature that groups them by day received. Sweet.
2) I'd like to be able to turn on or off the default setting to save or not save sent messages. I hardly ever let my box get dirty (despite the stankpants rumor), the nifty new "how full is my box" meter should prevent people from filling up anyway. It's hard to remember to check the box, and you never really know what sentmail you'll later need until it's too late. For example, you might send someone directions to your house, and then later someone else asks, and you can go back and cut n paste. I know PMs aren't a replacement for e-mail, but they have an IM-like immediacy that e-mail lacks. Better for little convos and tidbits. And some of us (like me) can't do IM at work.

1) Thank the fine folks at vBulletin for that change.
2) Curse the dirty bastards at vBulletin for that limitation. It seems to be a global setting and not something you can customize in your User Control Panel.
Although... mjr (i think) raised the very good point that in this software you can actually see if your sent items folder is full... so maybe we'll change it back someday. Since we have to choose either "all on" or "all off" we're going with all off for the time being.

if i'm not mistaken, you have to mark that you want a copy of it saved in your sent folder, it defaults to NOT saving it...

we changed the default from save all outgoing PMs to don't save outgoing PMs
If you want to save a PM you have to now select to save it.
-mjr
ps on NB it was such an issue because people kept filling their sent without realizing it. If that is less of an issue on rhythmism then we may change the default back. The way the code is written for the software it is so far not something that a user is able to customize.

Having the preference of saving all your sent messages, by default, would be a nice little rhyme and rhythm luxury.
Keep forgetting to hit that damb "save" tab before chucking ‘em into cyberspace.
