We would like to present one of the newest venues: Twenty Below! Glow Fridays at Twenty Below provides an EDM environment for individuals seeking a great time. It combines non-stop energy and entertainment that give guests an experience unrivaled by none in NY nightlife and offers a state of the art sound and lighting system.

Our featured DJ this week is Kristina Sky. With records out on Armin Van Buuren’s Armada, Paul Van Dyk’s Vandit and U.S. mega-label Ultra, while holding a coveted residency with West Coast power-house promoter Giant, it’s easy to see why Kristina Sky is one of America’s brightest rising stars. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she’s been DJing to thousands of enthusiastic clubbers since 2002, coast-to-coast in the U.S. and around the world—from China to the Philippines, Ecuador to Guatemala and Canada to Costa Rica. Her DJ sets are unforgettable and energetic journeys through the best of dance music and her production sound ranges from warm and groovy progressive-house to emotional, melodic and bangin’ trance. Playing alongside many of the world’s top DJs, while also gaining their support on her tracks, it’s only natural that she has made quite a name for herself in the global dance scene.

If you haven’t had a chance to experience one of Kristina’s live sets yet, anyone who has will tell you that you’re missing out. Her passion and love for the music is undeniable and her ultimate goal is clear—to rock you out on that dancefloor, leave you with a memorable soundtrack of the night and keep you coming back for more!

Modified presents the NYC debut of one of the master technicians of the minimal Drum+Bass movement:



HYBRIS (Metalheadz, Critical, Invisible, Dispatch) [Prague - CZE]

Hybris is Evan Vischi. After years of being a studio recluse, Evan surfaced in the DC scene and released collaborations and solo projects under the name Robot Death Squad. He then moved to the Czech Republic to focus on advancing his own sound and began releasing under the name Hybris.

Towards the end of 2009 his tunes were spotted and picked up by Kasra, and his debut single was released on Critical: Modulations (The Cleaner/ Raindance) in June of 2010.

Not long after, a trip to Groningen and a collaboration with Noisia resulted in Crystalline, and in February 2011, the Hybris EP on Noisia's Invisible imprint was released.

Later that year, a meeting with Goldie and Rido resulted in the creation of the Prague Connection EP, a collaborative effort between Rido and Hybris.

Hybris continues to push the limits of his brain and monitors to further uncover new sonic territory

With releases on high profile record labels such as iBreaks, Hardcore Beats, Broke, Electrofly and Bombtraxx, New York City based Wavewhore has established himself as one of the USA’s leading electronic bass music producers. His skills behind the decks have also led to headlining appearances across the US, Europe and Asia and his music and DJ performances have been featured on many of the world’s top broadcast media outlets including BBC Radio 1 London, WKTU 103.5 FM New York, KISS FM London, RTE Dublin, Sirius Satellite Radio and MTV.

Wavewhore has been called a “breakbeat master” by Liquid Todd (Sirius Satellite Radio) and “one of the USA’s finest breakbeat DJ/producers” by Jay Cunning (KISS FM London) while Breakbeat Online described him as “NYC’s finest export since the Beastie Boys”. He began his career as a guitarist performing in clubs while he was still in high school and his first electronic release dates back to 1992. His music has also received high level support from many of the top names in the business including Aquasky, DJ Icey, Jackal & Hyde, The Freestylers, General Midi, Elite Force and many more.

Now that dubstep and electro house are incorporating harder-edged sounds and dirty basslines, Wavewhore has also turned his attention to these genres and is currently working on several projects which build on his early production work of drum'n'bass and contemporary dub. These additional musical ventures will continue to feature his signature high energy beats and basslines combined with the quality production and impact that has made his music popular around the world.

Nychavok (Pronounced Nigh-Cha-Vok) made his debut in the Summer of 2007. A New York City native, he has been a resident for The Secret Night of Science and Let it Roll, two of NYC's biggest Drum+Bass monthlies at the time. He is also the founder of Alteration, and has recently launched his latest venture into nightlife, Modified, determined to take Bass Music to the next level in NYC and beyond.

CHRISTIAN MARTIN BIO:

Since 1995, Christian Martin has been exploring electronic music from one end of the earth to the other; from full-moon parties in the deserts of California to the thumping, dark corners of the London club scene. Christian followed his love for spleen-rattling bass to San Francisco in 2000, where he met up with the now legendary dirtybird crew. The dirtybird BBQ was the brainchild of the four original members " Christian & his brother Justin Martin, and friends Claude VonStroke and Worthy. They had a personal mission to change the landscape of San Francisco house music by throwing an epic free party in the park, based on their new signature sound. In 2003, with nothing to lose and everything to gain, Christian bought a massive yet necessary sound system on his credit card. This set the standard for a new era of die-hard dedicated DIY producers, all with productions based on heavy bass-lines, smiling faces and dance floor delights. In 2006, Christian began releasing a steady stream of tracks, first collaborating with Justin under the Martin Brothers alias, as well as Claude VonStroke. The Martin Brothers partnership has produced such hip-hop influenced hits as Duckface, Stoopit, & Dum, as well as remixes for Ed Banger and Fool's Gold. On his own, he's released his own brand of bassy house music on labels such as dirtybird, Trapez, and Anabatic. His low end take on tech house has led to remixes for musical heavyweights such as Chromeo, Underworld, L-Vis 1990, and many more. Christian's devotion to large scale bass has allowed him to champion the dirtybird sound out of the park and onto giant soundsystems at clubs and festivals worldwide. From Fusion (Germany) to Shambhala (Canada), to Coachella & Symbiosis (US), there's a constant demand for what he describes as bass from the ground up. In San Francisco, Christian is a resident at dirtybird's raucous quarterly party at Mezzanine; and also at Monarch, the newly opened marvel of a club. His new musical alias Leroy Peppers has recently roared to life, offering an even heavier take on hip-hop influenced bass music. Whether it be Leroy or Christian behind the decks, if your hands aren't clapping your ass surely will be.
