DIRECT DRIVE Presents: BASS & DESTROY

DJ SEOUL

(Direct Drive | Driven AM | NYC)
http://www.facebook.com/pages/DJ-SEO...e/459367455380

A major force in the Stateside Drum and Bass scene, New York City-based DJ Seoul made his debut behind the decks back in 1993. After several years of DJing and party promotions at underground scene nationwide, sensing the need for a weekend Drum and Bass night, Seoul began a weekly Saturday night event called Direct Drive in 1998. Direct Drive has received international acclaim as the party which consistently hosts the finest in US and UK talent and Seoul is now widely recognized as one of the top Drum and Bass promoters and DJs on the East Coast. Expanding on the success of the Direct Drive party, Seoul formed an event production and promotion company with the same name. Currently, Seoul is focusing his energy on producing tracks in his recording studio as well as overseeing the launch of a record label.

RAW Q
(Direct Drive | Driven AM | NYC)
http://www.facebook.com/rawqdnb

Raw Q (aka: Dj Beau) is one of NYC's original pioneers of drum n' bass and electronic music. As a born and raised native of NYC's East Village, Beau has been dj'ing underground clubs and raves in NYC, and the USA, as well as Puerto Rico for over 16 years and counting. His resume as a dj/producer is a veritable timeline of many of the most significant parties and events of the NYC/US electronic music culture. Whether it's from his beginnings as an original Liquid Sky and Satellite Records dj (circa '95) to his current status as one of Dj Zinc's Bingo Allstars and a selected tag-team partner of DJ DB at the highly acclaimed and now defunct Secret Night of Science monthly parties at LOVE, Beau has been a truely devoted contributor to underground electronic music and rave culture since the early days. Throughout his years as a performer and respected dj, Beau has been selected as the opener for such high profile artists as: Fabio and Grooverider, Planet of the Drums, Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Klute and has shared the bill with the likes of LTJ Bukem, Shy-Fx, Bad Company, Dj Craze and many more. He is currently a resident of Direct Drive, and performed regularly as a special guest at Secret Night of Science, Let It Roll, and Dream. He still continues to perform at NYC's longest running 21+ weekly dnb night, Camouflage. Beau is also well known for his original music production. In 95' he teamed up with Dj Ani (NASA, Deee-Lite) and created a series of tunes which appeared on Dj Soulslinger's Jungle Sky imprint (the first US Drum n Bass Label). In 2003 Beau transformed into Raw Q. As Raw Q, his music has had a major impact in the world of electronic music with tunes such as 'Vital Soul' which appeared on Dj Zinc's reputable Bingo imprint and was ranked 11th in the BBC's Global Dance Music charts (jul.13.04), which encompasses all forms of dance music. With tunes such as Vital Soul, Caspian Moon, Summer Rain and Jagged Edge, Raw Q's music has been embraced by such legendary artists as LTJ Bukem, Fabio, Roni Size, DB, Marcus Intalex, Marky, Zinc, Bryan Gee, Bailey, Dj Flight and countless others. Beau's goal as an artist and musician is to provide inspiring, forward thinking, positive music for as many open minded people as possible. Beau is aware that music is a powerful tool for unity and positive change, and an vitally essential form of communication.

BURNER BROTHERS
(Direct Drive | Patrol the Skies Music)
http://www.facebook.com/theburnerbrothers

The Burner Brothers is a name synonymous with NYC drum & bass since the origins of the sound. From their early legendary productions on Liquid Sky and Rawkuts in the late nineties to more recent offerings on labels such as Subsonik, The Burner Brothers have remained an integral part of the American drum & bass sound whether they are in the studio or behind the decks. Originally a trio which included Pish Posh (aka DJ Wally), The Burner Brothers are now a duo consisting of DJ Seen and CT Burners. After a short hiatus pursuing individual projects, Seen and CT have joined forces once again, pushing their production quality and overall sound to new levels. With the launch of their new label, Patrol The Skies, The Burner Brothers are set to make a huge impact in 2012 and beyond.

DJ SURV - Having been exposed to the sounds of electronic music since his teenage years, in particular techno and after also digging further into the electronic music genre and growing fond of groups such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and New Order, he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a DJ and picked up a pair of Technics turntables a few years back and has never looked back. He recently joined the Astoria DJ Group (A.D.G.) based here in NYC and has been making more appearances in venues throughout the city including RVL, Recoup Lounge, UC Lounge, Vig Bar, Nana, Hachi, Tenjune, Marquee, Affaire, the MC and also at various venues on his home island of Malta during the summers of 2010 and 2011 among others. Check out some of his sounds at:

NICK THOMPSON – Nick Thompson (aka Nasty Nick) is generally considered to be a techno/ progressive house DJ, though he does not limit himself to any one genre. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Nick delved into electronic music in the mid 90's listening to groups like Crystal Method and Rabbit in the Moon. However, the Album that changed everything was Global Underground's John Digweed (Sydney). After listening to this in 1999 Nick found his calling and began DJ'ing in early 2000. Nick quickly earned a residency at a local Jacksonville nightclub (The Cellar, 2001) where Nick's dark groovy sounds earned him the "Nasty" tag early on. Since moving to Orlando in 2002, Nasty Nick has had the opportunity to play at shows with internationally renowned talent such as: Paul Oakenfold, Hybrid and Kenneth Thomas. 2010 was a year of change and new opportunity for Nasty Nick as he moved to the house music hub of the United States, New York City. He also went on a three stop mini tour in Russia, where he played an epic five hour set to a packed house at Stena in Leningradskaya followed by a 2 hour afterhours set at Figaro. He wrapped up his trip to Russia by closing down a huge outdoor party on the Don River, rocking till the sun came up. Check out some of his sounds here:

T-MIC - From the first time he heard the sounds of a radio in his hospital incubator, DJ T-MIC knew that music would be an important part of his life journey. An accomplished jazz guitarist and graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, T-MIC turned to the wheels of steel in college where his exposure to hip hop and electronic music naturally led to DJ’ing. His first foray into the DJ art form came in 2005 when T-MIC worked at the famed Bush Radio in Cape Town acquiring an appreciation for the city’s diverse hip hop, deep house and Kwaito scene.

With the help of fellow DJs Cristina Ralphaeli and MisterBside, T-MIC founded the Astoria DJ Group (A.D.G.) in March 2009 which has grown to be NYC’s largest underground DJ collective dedicated to supporting the community and art form. TMIC has dropped the needle at locations throughout NYC including Kush Lounge, Moomia Lounge, VIG Bar, LIC Bar, DiWine, Hachi, Nana and SIP Lounge. You can find out more info about T-MIC and the A.D.G. group here:

ELIAS R - Elias R is a Chicago native with Colombian roots. Music has been a big part of Elias' life from an early age. He grew up listening to much of the techno and house music in the early 90s coming out of Chicago. He was passionate and curious about how these sounds and music was being made. Naturally he discovered instruments such as the piano and percussion, then came djing and quickly realized he wanted to dedicate himself to making music and bring to life what he had in his mind. His sound can best be described as always carrying a groove wether its deep, dark, or melodic and melancholic, Deep basslines and crisp chunky percussion are key. Elias has made himself a name not only locally but also internationally with his productions and audible charisma in his sets. Today he is working hard to produce music and continues to evolve as an artist and has had the opportunity to share the decks with world-renowned artists from across the globe. He has already had several releases on Beatport on world class labels including Dj Chus' Stereo Productions, Beatfreak Spain, and Monique Musique to name a few. Keep an eye out for him as he is sure to make some buzz all around.

    Mathias Schaffhäuser’s bio:

    Present:

Mathias Schaffhäuser’s around in the techno, house and minimal scene since 1994. Past releases of Mathias appeared on WIR Recordings, Lebensfreude, on Persistencebit Rec., Resopal Red, Force Inc., Multicolor, Definitive Records (house sub-label of Plus-8), Blaou Sounds, Frisbee Tracks and many others. In 1997 he started his own record label WARE which released 89 EPs until now (as of Febuary 2011).

Schaffhäuser’s motto at the turntables is: Purism sucks! The quality of the music is what’s important, not sheer functionality and a perfect mix. That is: at times his sets can be rather varied from Ware-style music, nice + smooth neo-house and funky minimal to thumping techno. His current favourites come from labels such as Prologue, Islands & Islets/Sthlm, Deep Data, Cynosure, Snork, 3rd Wave, Mobilée, Vakant, Circus Company - just to name a few.

    Past:

2001 saw his club hit "Hey Little Girl", 2002 "Musik ohne Bass" entered the clubs (Force Inc.). In April 2005 he released his album "Coincidance" (Ware CD 14/Ware 52). The title track was remixed by Trentemöller and by Dapayk (Mo’s Ferry Productions, Dapayk & Padberg/Ware 54). December 2005 saw his 12" "Lost Vox" with a remix by Pan-Pot, in febuary 2006 the next remix 12" "more alternatives" was released with a mix by Audio Werner.

On the 11. of Febuary 2008 the jubilee EP "10 Jahre Ware" / "10 Years Of Ware" appeared on the scene with 2 epic tracks, one by Ziggy Kinder and the other by Mathias. Both tracks reflect the Ware history by using samples of the the label’s past 10 years + fit them together with new + unique ideas to 2 new exciting monster tunes.

In 2011 Mr. Schaffhäuser looks back on a veritable live tour which led him to Buenos Aires, Rostock, Singapore, Offenbach and Trieste. What combines these illustrous places, you may ask? Everywhere was absolutely super cool! Schaffhäuser’s set kept throwing audiences off the curve. I mean, who squeezes minimal sounds, spontaneous vocal performances, crude cover versions and melodica solos into a one-hour set, without constantly staring at a computer screen? But, from nothing nothing comes. Even before 1993 (does anyone remember this?) Schaffhäuser sang and played guitar in several bands, so he knows how to rock the house. And that works even better with a big enough stage and wireless microphones! Though another fine house track is never far, after all, Schaffhäuser wouldn’t neglect his traditional Ware style, no matter how much he rocks.

Mathias has produced remixes for Steve Bug („Lover Boy“, Poker Flat Rec.), Luomo („Tessio“, Force Tracks/Force Inc.), Faust („T-Èlectronique“, Klangbad Rec.), Patrick Cowley & Jorge Socarras („You Laugh At My Face“, Ware Rec.), Leigh Morgan („Play Misty To Me“, Noice Rec.), Misc. („The Magic Number“, Sender Rec.), [A]pendics.Shuffle („No Reductions“, Adjunct Rec.), Goldfrapp („Twist“, Mute Rec.), J.C.A. („I Begin To Wonder“, Deep Cukture), Northern Lite („Trusting Blind“, 1st decade Rec.) and many many more.
