Basic NYC presents: Sleepy & Boo + Friends @ Cielo - Friday, March 9th
March is a great month for electronic music in America, with an international assemblage of DJs, artists and party people alike heading to Miami for the annual Winter Music Conference. Basic is starting the fun in NYC a week earlier, when we return to Cielo on Friday, March 9th for the latest monthly edition of the monthly Sleepy & Boo + Friends residency. They'll be featuring loads of fresh new music on the night, including plenty of upfront Miami promos bound to generate some extra heat down on the beach. It's also the official kickoff to the Spring season, and they're looking forward to some great nights coming in the months ahead. Joining them on the night are two new DJs at Sleepy & Boo + Friends - with longtime Brooklyn veteran Max Mayfield warming things up for them on the decks. Opening the party is newcomer Justin Tunes. As always they've got free entry before midnight on their guest list at rsvp@basicnyc.com - so be sure to join them for the start of what promises to be a killer season for great music in NYC, Miami and beyond.
Basic is coming up two years of Sleepy & Boo + Friends, their monthly residency at Cielo. This is a night dedicated to New York's hometown heroes of the dancefloor, as they headline the night alongside local guests and openers. Every second Friday of the month, they take the reins of Cielo's pristine and celebrated Funktion One sound system, playing brand-new underground releases - paired with a selection of classic underground anthems and forgotten gems - to one of New York's most enthusiastic and music-loving crowds. It's a no-nonsense party that celebrates everything they love about nightlife in New York - great music and great people having a great time together on the dancefloor. Month in and month out, no matter what else is on their schedule, Sleepy & Boo + Friends at Cielo is always a highlight of their month.
In Miami this year, they'll be returning to the Beach Plaza Hotel in South Beach, where they've had the honor of presenting a celebrated series of daytime showcases and events for close to 8 years. With its tropical vibe and open outdoor space, the Beach Plaza deck is one of Miami's most ideal venues for the afternoon parties that are what the WMC are all about. This year they're working with a wide range of deep house labels, artists and agencies for what is destined to be another great year of musical fun in the sun. The events are all free, making them a nice respite from the high ticket prices that have become synonymous with Miami.
They are looking forward to welcoming two new guests to Sleepy & Boo + Friends on Friday. Max Mayfield is a regular face throughout NYC's electronic scene, with past appearances at some of their Basic events at Sullivan Room and (le) Poisson Rouge. But he can be heard all over Brooklyn and the city on a regular basis; he'll be getting the decks warmed up. Coming in from Long Island is opener, Justin Tunes, who is making his Cielo debut on the party. Justin is a new DJ on the New York scene, and he's sure to get the party started in style.
