Fuck that noise.
It's clear the future is going to bring us eclecticism and even more dissolved beat structures. Something disco lacks. I see the return of ambient music and cross-over electro-acoustic stuff. The skrillex mode shows us that we're on an abrasive trajectory and the axiom of drug use tells us that after the initial molly-moon the kids will descend the serotonin ladder into something even more abrasive before rebounding into their dotage.

But seriously, all promoters serve pabst. It's a watered down beer that lets people think they're getting a deal... LOOK HOW CHEAP IT IS!!! but really it's mostly water.

The profit margins on it aren't huge but a venue can sell a shit ton of pabst and it balances out in the end. Promoters will continue to sell pabst regardless of whether the trend has died or not because it's profitable.

Smokinism- The focus of most hipsters right now is on "personal" style or looks. Each person has a look or a personal style that they carry. You can often hear hipsters opining..... "I love your look!"

Plaid shirts are a Williamsburg trying too hard thing at this point. You still see them on hipsters, but only if it conjoins with their "look".

I don't know what they call this.. .its like spacey lo-fi hip hop tinged stuff that the blog darlings are loving right now. Stuff like clams casino, hype williams etc

also pretty much everything on hotflush, all that "futurebass" shit... which pretty much just sounds like other stuff people have been calling dubstep the past few years

So as you can see, it's nothing really new, its just a bunch of rehashed shit that for some reason doesn't make otherjockey or dr. gonzo angry because it's all over blogs, and young ignorant blonde girls like to go to the parties with these "cutting edge" artists.

LOL at me being into Clams Casino.

Cross-over stuff like this will be the new thing though, you're right about that. Although ultimately it will be more eclectic than the current re-hash lo-fi stuff being made.

i disagree it won't be the ambient return. look at the politics. dubstep was connected to the disaffection. it could go either into comradery type sound or discoord. i hope it's the latter.
If the monkey could type one keystroke every nanosecond, the expected waiting time until the monkey types out Hamlet is so long that the estimated age of the universe is insignificant by comparison ... this is not a practical method for writing plays.

Only in Europe.
Dubstep is not disaffected or revolutionary music in the US.
In the US "dubstep" is connected to escapism and a blinding inability to see exactly where we are today in the here and now. I think the next push will evolve from the US, not Europe.... sorry Europe.

hopefully. but judging how people keep hanging onto the old models in forming a movement, a change it is possible it will be friendship songs with a pinch of revolt.
