For some reason I spent the last few days listening to an excessive amount of Men at Work and Midnight Oil.

So I wanted to drop a line and see how you were. Hope everything is good. No homo.

AC/DC (Bon Scott era) > AC/DC (Brian Johnson era) > INXS (if you could digitally remove the awful sax solos) > Men at Work > INXS (sax sections intact) > Midnight Oil > Jacko
Keepin' it over 30.

Its admittedly a very, very close call between the two.

Brian Johnson fronted arguably their peak, with Back in Black their indisputedly best album, front to back, and For Those About to Rock having a pretty strong argument as their second best album, but he also was there for the long run of garbage after that till Thunderstruck, when they settled into a string of moderately listenable if sort of copycat sounding albums.

On the other hand pretty much every Bon Scott album (admittely a much shorter run) was at least very solid, and its hard to argue with the trio of Dirty Deeds/Let Their Be Rock/Highway to Hell.

I figured it to be about a tie, and broke it with my personal preference for Scott's sort of sneering singing style over Johnson's gravely when its good, screechy when its bad style.
Keepin' it over 30.

AC/DC : Yes.

INXS : Works even with the Sax. Come on dude!

The sax solo in Never Tear Us Apart just screams 80's cheese to me. They almost nailed it and then somebody said, "Hey, think we can work a little of that Kenny G sound into this track? Get ourselves a little Glenn Fry You Belong to the City vibe going?" I cringe every time the song hits that section.

INXS sans Sax does make a lot of sense. HoGP
