11 years and 8 million albums since bursting out of the UK's underground club scene,
The Chemical Brothers make their eagerly anticipated return. With their fifth studio album
Push The Button, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons demonstrate, that when it comes to supreme beat-based innovation, inspired collaboration and sheer sonic excellence, they are matchless. Tom and Ed are at their strongest when simply side by side on this album, the bedrock of which is made up of pioneering 21st century electronics, pushing not just their core sound, but electronic music to the next level.
First single '
Galvanize' is a Middle-Eastern flavored juggernaut, featuring hip-hop legend Q-Tip. Old sparring partner Tim Burgess continues a run of sublime hook-ups with 'The Boxer'. The track 'Hold Tight London' features vocals from Anna Lynne from Trespassers Williams. Also, representing from the hip-hop world, that was Tom & Ed's first love, is vocalist Anwar Superstar on 'Left Right'.
From another end of the cultural spectrum comes Kele Okereke, singer with new rock-art outfit Bloc Party who guests on 'Believe'. 'Close Your Eyes' meanwhile recalls the psychedelic soul of the Chemicals' past collaborations with Mercury Rev and The Flaming Lips; this time their creative partners are The Magic Numbers. Closing the album, 'Surface to Air' is arguably one of most defining tracks of The Chemical Brothers legacy thus far and suggests much for the future. That's The Chemical Brothers in 2005: still bringing you the good stuff, the new stuff, ahead of the pack.
Watch this immaculately produced, screamingly bold, utterly infectious space...
