using phoenix or firebird
dunno what version
posts that are short, so that the formatting does not cover the "user information" area ends up revealing the "wallpaper"
which is not horrible, but its horrible.

i'm running a G4 dual 450 mhz with 896 MB ram and system 9.2.2 with IE 5.1 and each new page takes about a minute to two minutes (literally) to load.. this is also freezing up my ability to switch applications while these pages are loasding.

any advice? (besides upgrading to panther as that will happen april 1.. i know we're behind the times around here..)

I am running almost the same thing but with a gig of ram...

it's you it's not the board cuz I am flying.

check the other apps you have going esp. in os less then X

illustrator 10 and a web browser I have seen have bad reactions...slow slow slow.

also having photoshop 6 and illustrator 10 open in 9.2 or less as well. Illustrator for some reason keeps checking other apps (photoshop) to see if they are going to get some play time I guess.

and I will not comment if you have acrobat open. That shit kills your browser if you have it open in a tab and then open another tab.

I wish my busted company would pay the cash to get me on OSX

Not quite painfully slow, but almost. I'm uising IE on OSX here at the office. Slowy McSlowerson (generally speaking the pages load just fine, but then my mousey cursor thing spins and spins and spins while "building the menu"--the dropdowns at the top, I think). I thought the Photo Gallery was broken because I could never wait long enough fo rthe pictures to show up.

Using IE on XP at home is Fasty McFasterson. Pages and menus load in a snap, Photo Gallery is fully functional, etc.

that's what was happening to me yesterday (i expect it will again once i get into work) .. the pages would load ok, but the "building the menu" thing would take FOREVER. Everything is very fast at home on my pc.

Using the --ism skin, the scrolling of a page in IE6 is
slow and jerky, very un-smoothe, --minimal scrolls very
smoothly.

Unread Tuesday, Feb 3rd 2004, 04:13 PM #11 Arrow Problems Using -ism Style
Not sure if this is a bug per se or an incompatible with my graphic card, but while using the “ism” style, the board scrolls and loads very slowly. Whereas, the other two browser styles scroll and load satisfactory. Problem seems to be isolated to that particular style, as other sites with dark shaded backgrounds run properly.

*Note of clarity, clicking on intermediate parts of the scroll bar area itself works and runs fine. It’s when I used my mouse or the space bar to navigate does the website become jerky and distorted.

Unread Wednesday, Feb 4th 2004, 10:31 AM #15 Color issues in Firebird
Hello,

Dunno if this has been reported, sorry if it has. This is on firebird 0.7 (and also 0.6, I think), on either platform.

It's easier to use a screenshot than to try and explain; please see attached. I tried to keep the file size very small, the colors are messed up, but you get the picture.

I had a hard time getting the screenshot to a managable size.
Is there a very simple way of taking screenshots and saving them as jpeg files in a size that is manageable?

You can see, using "ism" format that there is "wallpaper" showing below the post field. Is this intentional?
