Friday, April 22nd 2005, New York, NY --- Hopefully you’ve already put down the Caramel Macciato and picked up an ice cold one, but if you haven’t gotten rid of those numbing winter blues we’ve got the perfect remedy for you sweety; a kiss…BABYLON’S KISS! This underground dance party for the gay, str8, and everything in-betweens who wish to depart from the usual festive fair makes it’s first appearance since the legendary 2005 New Year’s Day after-hours. This time they’ve chosen Sullivan Room to house their event. The collective of native New York City misfits who co-ordinate this event are well into making trends, not following them so Do Beware!
Resident DJs Lunic & Freddy Valerio, two hometown homeboys of Dominican decent will be laying down their usual applause inspiring primitive beats. They have no interest in denying the rhythm of the Guira Y Tambora that runs through their blood so do expect some serious spirit raising vibes. Their combined 27 years of dj-ing/production experience displays itself effortlessly every time they hit the decks. Limited by no one genre, they ride on the edge of that long forgotten wave of lulls and eruptions in the music that once-upon-a-time churned out a true soundscape for the reveler. Don’t be surprised if you hear a full on Garage vocal track slapped up against the darkest tribal beats but magically, through the mixing & programming it makes perfect sense to the dancer. Latin percussionist Adam Craig will be brought in to tow the line thru the beating of the conga skins.
Always promising something to stir the senses, there is a bit of a twist for Babylon’s Kiss this time ‘round. 2am will mark the start of a special fashion exhibition brought to us by unChin (www.unchin.com)Magazine’s Fashion Editor At Large, Milton Cruz…darling do expect the un-expected! Hair & Makeup will be courtesy of the ever so talented ARIDIO.
We won’t deny it, the House Children of today do need love and nurturing, but who are we to deny them their guilty pleasures…The Babylon’s Kiss dancers will make you want to bust a lusty one full of love, ‘nuff said!
A language has been lost but feeling has been found and so, we celebrate!
