I take it those are a musician, song and label *representative* of your primary musical tastes, and not the only ones you like. What genre/style are those? (I'm a noob too, not just to this board but to electronica as well).

I like anything from tribal, to anthem, to freestyle, to hard stuff.

Alyus is downtempo good stuff. Plastic dreams is more minimal. The old nervous lable came out with a mess of stuff that was good across the board.

Tribal is good stuff (if it's what I'm thinking of--so much ambiguity and variation in the naming). Unfortuntely the only names that come to mind are Saeed & Palash. In the beginning I would go to clubs and appreciate the music without paying attention to the names, so now I'm a little deficient when talking about this stuff.
Not really sure what you refer to by anthem and freestyle; hard stuff isn't so much for me... I'm getting old and fragile y'know.
Relate it to something with which I'm familiar, will you? How does it compare to Theivery Corporation (who, incidentally are playing Spirit (again) tonight)?
Well I guess I'm just going to have to go out and hear some of this Minimal stuff; seems to be mentioned quite a lot around these parts.

Freestyle dates me... It is the stuff that guidos (is that a bad term around these parts) used to listen to back in the late 80's early 90's

Alyus stuff is a few bpm slower than most. Check out "follow me" if you have a minute. It should be up on Itunes. Its vocal with a good beat and a lot of meaning.

I havent heard much thievery corporation which means I should go to spirit tonight. But I have a date to the symphony. So I guess I'll have to check them out next time.

Oh of course, I know that track. "Follow me... to a place, where we can all be free." Good stuff. I didn't recognize the name somehow. And if you like that I entreat you to find "Wass vs. Earl Thomas - Summertime". Very mellow, delicious. I have an mp3 of it, but naturally I would encourage you support the artist first. You might also like Brother Brown. "Brotha Brotha" is my favorite, also "Under the Water".
Not necessarily. As much as I adore their recorded material, I have it on good authority that they are not so hot live.
