NO JACKET REQUIRED presents:

MARCUS INTALEX (Soul:r / Soul:ution UK) **1ST STOP ON USA TOUR**

In 2003 the attachment of ‘MIST’ to the production credits of a record still ensures a stamp of quality, after nearly ten years in the business. Since their early efforts for labels such as Flex and their own Intalex Productions, Marcus Intalex and ST Files have provided Drum and Bass with a guarantee of quality over quantity, pushing the envelope at every stage. The word seminal is too often bandied around in dance music but in the case of 1998’s ‘How You Make Me Feel’ for Doc Scott’s 31 Records, the description never seemed so fitting. Spawning a legion of admirers and copy cats the unique qualities of MIST’s landmark production still reverberates in modern Drum and Bass.

Further releases for Metalheadz and 31 and high profile remixes for the likes of Un.Cut, MJ Cole, Goldie and Solid State re-affirmed MIST’s position at the top of the jungle tree. In 2001 the page was turned once more with the birth of Soul:R their critically acclaimed imprint and home to not only their own work but that of Calibre, High Contrast, DJ Marky, D.Kay and a host of others. After the success of the Soul:ution EP series, a debut label CD compilation is in the offing, promising cold classics from the back catalogue as well as future bubblers and some very special remixes. This is the year of Soul:R, as MIST take their own constantly forward thinking vision of Drum and Bass to the next level. Look out for more collaboration work with Calibre as MISTICAL, including an exciting vocal project with a Brooklyn based soul singer as well as club favourites ‘MISTICAL Dub Part 2’ and ‘Cold Halo’.

As ever Marcus’ DJ-ing has remained uncompromising and hectic of late. Recent visits have been paid to Japan, his residency with DJ Marky in Sao Paolo as well as regular trips to Europe and Soul:R’s own residency, Soul:ution in home town Manchester. This is an exciting time for Drum and Bass, as Soul:R’s constant focus on quality, ground breaking music is example of. So here’s to MIST and their continued dedication to pushing things forward.

JUJU (Cartel / Phuturo / Liquid V / Soul:r)

Juju is currently one of the States busiest and most established DJ/Producers. Respected for his fierce DJing, programming and exclusive dubplate selections, Juju is in heavy demand throughout the States, Asia, Europe and South America. In San Francisco Juju hosts his own club night, PHUTURO, one of the nation’s longest running and most respected Drum and Bass weeklies.

On the production front, Juju has been setting high standards being one of the first American Drum and Bass artists to be signed to multiple top notch UK labels including Renegade Recordings, Trouble on Vinyl, Subtronix, Invaderz Transmission and Total Science's Advanced/CIA. Ranked by many of the top international DJ's as the best US Drum and Bass producer and with his tunes currently being played by Fabio, Grooverider, Invaderz, Klute, Total Science, Storm, V Recordings crew, John B, Loxy, Ram crew and many more, Juju has set the pace for international artists in the genre. In the States, Juju has had a string of successful releases on almost every major Drum and Bass label making him one of the most prolific and well established artists around. His studio projects have included working with Calibre, K [Polar], Abstract, UFO, Hive and his new label partner DJ Craze.

In 2001 Juju launched his own imprint Phuturo Recordings via S.T. Holding Ltd [UK]. The label has been making waves throughout the Drum and Bass scene in Europe, US, South America and Asia. Phuturo's release schedule is top notch with an eclectic mixture of international Drum and Bass artists including Juju, Calibre, Klute, Baron, Greg Packer and Drumagick. Phuturo Recordings is being held as one of the best international labels in the Drum and Bass circuit worldwide.

BAGGS (Breakbeat Science)

Evan Baggs has quickly established himself as one of the premier & versatile DJ’s in the New York DnB community. After attending many raves and large dance music events in the late 90’s, he became drawn to the dark, but soothing, sounds of 170 bpm breakbeats, which were quarantined to the cramped, torrid, back rooms of clubs and venues on the East Coast. In the summer of 2002, he landed a job working at Breakbeat Science NYC, one of the most established DnB organizations in the world. By the beginning of 2003 he had risen to managerial status and has taken on many of the store’s & label’s important daily tasks, including spearheading the BBS DJ Booking Agency, which represents artist such as: Klute (Commercial Suicide, Metalheadz, UK), A-Sides (Eastside, Fuze, Metalheadz, UK) Spirit, Inneractive, Phantom Audio, Metalheadz,UK), and many more. Through his constant and daily access to almost every DnB tune out there, he acquired two slots writing reviews for two of the four major dance publications in the US: Urb Magazine and Big Shot Magazine (formerly known as Mixer). These positions further increased the volume of tunes that pass by him, helping to create a refined and eclectic taste. This has also manifested in to an A&R position at Breakbeat Science and Orgone Recordings.

ESHIN (No Jacket Required / Bassbot)

Eshin, a relatively new addition to the NYC drum & bass community, first began DJing in 2000 as he began taking hip-hop tunes from his bedroom to house parties in the NYC area. He started experimenting with DnB in his DJ sets in 2002 and hasn’t looked back since then. Eshin made a big splash in 2004 by launching the eclectic Wednesday night weekly No Jacket Required with DJ / promoting partner Doctor Faustus. Spanning from melodic and dubby sounds to tech-step and jump-up, Eshin showcases the ability to explore multiple styles in his sets. As a member of the electronic music collective Bassbot, Eshin continues to spread his diverse sound in the NYC DnB circuit and beyond.

DOCTOR FAUSTUS (No Jacket Required / Paradigm Lab / Bassbot)

Doctor Faustus got his start in Boston, drawn to the sexy sounds of its dimly lit lounges and out of the way jazz clubs. In 1999, he became a chill-out staple at house parties all over the Boston metro area and landed recurring gigs in Cambridge's River Gods and the VIP room of Fanieul Hall's Exchange. Introduced to DnB in 2001 at 4Front Records' weekly The Rinse, he updated his collection and moved out of the lounge and into the main room. In 2002 he moved to NYC with immediate success: a Saturday chill-out residency at The Cellar Bar under The Bryant Park Hotel for UK house label Journeys by DJ, a Tuesday DnB weekly at The BQE Lounge in Williamsburg, regular DnB spots at then-Carroll Gardens haunt Halcyon, and co-ownership of Greenwich, CT's ParadigmLab Recordings label. In 2004 he created the year-long Wednesday DnB weekly No Jacket Required with fellow DJ Eshin, playing alongside Total Science, Dara, DB, Reid Speed, Mathematics, and others. Having gained an appreciation for the deeper meanings in the music in his chill-out days, the good doctor melds solid beats and lovin' melodies to ensure every new track is a well-timed progression in an intricate and very danceable story.
