ALMA begins summer w/Rare Latin & LIVE Drums! (6/17)
ALMA’s summer series begins with residents DJ True and Miller Cruz signature “Neo Bras Fusion” vibing alongside veterans Papo and Caco. These two players are greatly anticipating their first collaboration being that they both share a deep connection to the roots of rhythm.
Paposwing is known for contributing some of his musical talent on Masters At Work with House of Rhumba, as well as spicing up tracks for Truby Trio, Dennis Ferrer and countless others. Caco de Oliveira has worked with Braz legends Milton Nascimento, Martinho da Vila and Luis Melodia, just to name a few.
Carmen Valentin (who houses the infamous livingroom where ALMA was conceived) will be celebrating her Birthday with brother Juan Valentin playing a rare Latin groove set. As a Producer and a DJ, his extensive collection has found his name credited on many compilations. His remix work has featured raw Brazi elements and has received recent accclaim on Osunlade's Yoruba Records.
All of ALMA’s hard work has earned it’s crew three nominations in the 2005 Choice Awards. DJ True for his “Deeper Than Disco” radio show, Joann ‘Muzikbutrfly’ Jimenez for “Promoter of the Year” and ALMA for “Best Monthly Party”. Winners will be determined by internet voting polls, so make sure to show some love if you feel it! :wink:
