** A Pre-Halloween Massacre **
NO JACKET REQUIRED and I LOVE DRUM N BASS present:
SUBFOCUS (Ram Records / UK) **DEBUT USA TOUR**

With several tracks to his name all made in the space of the last twelve months 2004 has been a massive year for Nick aka Sub Focus: the year has seen him breakthrough in unprecedented fashion armed with the likes of the technically astounding "Acid Test", the simple yet devastatingly effective "Strobe", the lively "Get on Up" and the altoghether awesome "X-Ray". In a matter of months, he has gone from being one of many wannabe producers to become a permanent fixture of the award winning Ram Records family. Artists like Sub Focus are what "Best Breakthrough Producer" awards are made for.
Things didn't really start to happen for him until last year when he made a conscious decision to take his production process extremely seriously. Nick enrolled in a renowned sound engineering course in London's East End, where he found himself polishing up his self taught skills, whilst also going deeper into the realms of truly understanding the concept of sound.
Eventually Nick managed to make a few things that he felt proud of so he began to give out some CDs for his friends to listen to, only looking for a bit of feedback. However, a certain friend decided to take one of these "Don't Play Them to Anyone Else" CDs and give one to award winning DJ and Ram Record's label owner Andy C. On hearing the tracks Andy not only saw talent but he saw a release, within hours Nick had the phone call and within weeks Nick had his first release on Ram's much respected sister imprint Frequency: a 12" featuring "Down the Drain" with "Hotline" on the flip.
With this new found confidence in mind; in recent months Nick went in the studio and rolled out three brilliant bits of production in quick succession. To Nick's delight all of them got the stamp of approval; "Acid Test" and "Get On Up" will act as his follow up release on Frequency whilst his brilliant "Strobe" is to be included on Chapter Six of the Ram Raiders series on Ram Records. All the above tracks have been really well received by the scene's top flight DJs but to Nick's surprise press and radio have been in support too; they've all received regular airplay on both Grooverider's BBC Radio 1 Drum & Bass show and Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 prime time specialist show.
All that remains to be said is remember the name and watch this space.
PAUL C (I Love Drum N Bass / Jungle Nation / Konkrete Jungle / djpaulc.com)

DJ Paul C, a man on fire! Founding member & pillar of the NYC Jungle / Drum & Bass community. Throwing down with DJ Dara & some of the now Bassbin crew in Dublin, Ireland since 1992. Breakin' Jungle / D & B to San Francisco, USA over 7 months in '94 and taking New York by Storm in '95 with the legendary Jungle Nation series as resident & co founder, alongside Thomas Ryan, Dara & resident in rotation, DJ DB, all the while receiving crazy write ups. This man has been tearing it up since.
DJ'ing with the cream Fabio, Grooverider, Kenny Ken, DJ Rap, DJ SS, Shy FX, Dieselboy the list goes on. NYC, NJ, SF, TX, London, Dublin, Toronto, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Spain, Canary Islands, Puerto Rico, and so on. From World of Drum & Bass NYC to Carnival Weekend UK, DJ Paul C rinses it out. Helping debut Bryan Gee of V Recordings in the US as well as & numerous others including John B, Dr S Gachet, etc. Not satisfied DJ Paul C started producing in '98 with Shaun Bear of Rawkus, Kingsize, Dara, Raw Q, Delmar, again the list goes on. 2004 Paul C attends and completes Electronic Music Production @ School of Audio Engineering NYC campus and has since been turning out solo projects which he tests on dancefloors exclusively the next day with a new track per gig. In case you haven't noticed, this is a man on a mission.
Paul C kills it each and every time and has done so non-stop for a decade in the US and abroad. From smooth, liquid, funk dub rollers, to tear down, heavy, Ragga Tech rinsers. From old school rave to today's Hip Hop, Reggae & R n B. No sound too big or too small for DJ Paul C. This man has been dj'ing rave parties since 1988 before Jungle / Drum & Bass, playing some of the grimiest warehouses to the biggest super clubs including PS1 MoMA & residency at Timbaland’s celebrity club Suede & now the latest in NYC, I Love Drum n Bass. DJ Paul C is still not satisfied. Hush hush new projects are forthcoming this year as well as domestic & some international duties.
ESHIN (No Jacket Required / Bassbot / Hardbox Music)

DJ Eshin, a relatively new addition to the NYC drum & bass community, first began DJing in 2000 as he began taking hip-hop tunes from his bedroom to house parties in the NYC area. Although he first delved into electronic music in 1996, Eshin did not start experimenting with DnB in his DJ sets until 2002 and hasn’t looked back since then. Eshin made a big splash in 2004 by launching the eclectic Wednesday night weekly No Jacket Required in NYC with DJ/promoting partner Doctor Faustus. Spanning from melodic and dubby sounds to tech-step and jump-up, Eshin showcases the ability to explore multiple styles in his sets. Eshin has played alongside international talent including Total Science, Marcus Intalex, Juju, Logistics, Dara, DB, Mathematics, and Reid Speed, among others. As a member of the electronic music collective Bassbot, Eshin continues to spread his diverse sound in the NYC DnB circuit and beyond.
DOCTOR FAUSTUS (No Jacket Required / Paradigm Lab / Bassbot)

Doctor Faustus got his start in Boston, drawn to the sexy sounds of its dimly lit lounges and out of the way jazz clubs. In 1999, he became a chill-out staple at house parties all over the Boston metro area and landed recurring gigs in Cambridge's River Gods and the VIP room of Fanieul Hall's Exchange. Introduced to DnB in 2001 at 4Front Records' weekly The Rinse, he updated his collection and moved out of the lounge and into the main room. In 2002 he moved to NYC with immediate success: a Saturday chill-out residency at The Cellar Bar under The Bryant Park Hotel for UK house label Journeys by DJ, a Tuesday DnB weekly at The BQE Lounge in Williamsburg, regular DnB spots at then-Carroll Gardens haunt Halcyon, and co-ownership of Greenwich, CT's ParadigmLab Recordings label. In 2004 he created the year-long Wednesday DnB weekly No Jacket Required with fellow DJ Eshin, playing alongside Total Science, Dara, DB, Reid Speed, Mathematics, and others. Having gained an appreciation for the deeper meanings in the music in his chill-out days, the good doctor melds solid beats and lovin' melodies to ensure every new track is a well-timed progression in an intricate and very danceable story.
ROCKIT (I Love Drum N Bass)

First hitting the decks in his native New Zealand 8 years ago, DJ Rockit honed his skills as an acid techno DJ in the London underground squat party scene. It was there that he established himself as a serious DJ with an unmistakable rocking style. It wasn't until 2001 when he moved to New York that drum & bass took over his record box. Relatively new to the New York jungle scene, Rockit and his crew have established a weekly Thursday night aptly named I Love Drum N Bass which has proven itself to be a staple in the NYC drum & bass calendar. Part-time herbalist, full-time junglist... DJ Rockits gonna rock ya!!
KOMPAKT (I Love Drum N Bass)
Hosted by:
MC VERSE (Renegade Hardware / Crunch Recordings / UK)

Verse joins a select crop of owners, an MC with a label as he works towards the first Crunch release.
In between touring and travelling, Verse has found sufficient studio time to write alongside DKay, BCUK, Keaton, Bad Company and join the Fifth Element crew deep with Loxy & Ink. Postponed due to distribution issues that collective are far from buried we’re assured. Verse releases have rounded out across Renegade Hardware and Outbreak; he duly returns to productions for his personal ends, Crunch Recs.
Again calling on the wizadry of DKay, 'Off The Rails / Azure' drops in the New Year. Verse explains, 'Running my own label is something I've always wanted to do. There's nothing better than having full control over your music'.
The format for Crunch is to be rigid; one side collaborative effort, one side solo chunky, musical Verse beats.
'Off The Rails / Azure' drops late in January andwork is already underway to finalise Keaton's appearance, 'White Crow b/w Journeys Through Haze' ['Sort of a weed tune'] for end of February and a D-Bridge performance, 'Burning Edge' to follow that.
