EDISON GEM aka ORION & JADIS (Hallucination, Subtitles, Good Looking, LA)
{http://www.myspace.com/orionjadis}
"You never know how things are going to end up - you can just feel them beginning. You move blindly searching for what matters, and until it smacks you in the face, you won't know what it is." ~Jadis
The end of one thing is often the beginning of another. Edison Gem are proof positive that destruction can double as a form of creation. The production team, a collaborative effort between Orion and Jadis, has focused the energy borne of the failure of their relationship into an inspired mélange of expression, class, and dancefloor sensibility.
Propelled by passion and groove, the efforts of the two are seething with synergy and depth. Both classically trained, they manage to seamlessly fuse raw emotion with the consummate articulations of seasoned artistry. Jadis' ethereal voice gives a haunting edge to Orion's vast pastiches of tense rhythm and timeless melodic arrangements with breathtaking result.
After a one-year hiatus following their breakup, they both felt the pull of their strong artistic rapport and began working together again. "I tried working with other singers, but at the end of the day it boils down to finding that spark between people that makes something great, and its just not that easy to find," says Orion. "But we've got it, and we know it, and its what we're all about with our music." Jadis adds, "We had built something together that had been unique and to lose each other would mean starting completely over from square one. Neither of us was willing or patient enough to do that."
Orion and Jadis, both originally from North Carolina, are currently operating out of Los Angeles. Orion has garnered attention and 12" vinyl releases from labels such as LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records, Subtitles Music (with Jadis), Breakbeat Science, Fokuz, Gamma Ray, and others. Edison Gem (named after the first mass-produced gramophone) are currently finishing up their first album and playing select dates around the US.

Plus Weekly Resident DJ:

CHRISTIAN BRUNA (Match Maker)
History: A true native New Yorker, Christian was born, raised and educated in NYC. He got his start in the Rave scene at the early age of 16 in 1991. As one of the first street promoters of the infamous NASA parties, he helped kick start the beginning of a new era in dance music. With the earnings from promoting, he began building a record collection consisting of early Rave tunes. During this period he was also a champion skateboarder winning local contests and skating with some of today's top pros! CB was also a recognized graffiti artist regarded by many as one of the most original to come out of Queens within that era! In 1994 CB earned 15 minutes of fame when he became part of the original cast in the cult classic film KIDS.
In 1994 he also began DJ'ing, playing early Hardcore, Breakbeat, Techno, House and Jungle. In 1995 Christian quickly became a regular guest DJ at local Raves, Outlaw parties and premiere Electronic music club nights throughout NYC and the Tri-State area. Since then he has performed at countless parties from coast to coast and played for nearly every major promoter and club in NYC. His 10 year DJ'ing career has taken him to places such as; Alabama, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Dallas, Georgia, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Montreal etc, and has also DJ'ed in some of NYC's most legendary, now defunct clubs such as Limelight, Palladium, Tunnel, Twilo, Vinyl, amongst others!
After several years of DJ'ing solo and with friend DJ Beau, this Dynamic Duo formed 50/50 Productions in 1996. They turned their focus to pushing the Drum & Bass sound exclusively! In March of 1997 50/50 Productions initiated Camouflage, a new weekly Jungle/D&B party in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Camouflage quickly became one of NYC's premiere nights due to CB's undying passion to DJ and promote, as well as Beau's artistry as a DJ and graphic designer. As the man responsible for the inception of the Camouflage parties, Christian has been a key figure in the development of the NYC Drum & Bass scene since the early days. He's kept the original Camouflage vibe alive through thick-and-thin, despite the difficulties involved in keeping a weekly D&B party going in NYC and especially since this party is held on a Tuesday night!
Spinning alongside such highly respected and talented artists as: Adam F, Aphrodite, A-Sides, Big Bud, Dara, Decoder, Dieselboy, Dillinja, E-Sassin, Fabio, Fierce, DJ Flight, Freaky Flow & MC Flipside, Future Prophecies, Grooverider, Hive, J. Majik, J. Smooth, DJ Kane, Karl K, Kenny Ken, Lemon D, Nico, Orion, Perfect Combination, R.A.W., Shy FX, Soul Slinger & TC Izlam, Tee Bee, Total Science, Twisted Individual, and too many others to mention!
Today, CB is mostly recognized as the premiere resident of his weekly party, which is now close to it's 9th year. He is a highly respected and talented D&B DJ who is diverse and full of surprises each time he spins! Get ready as the Camouflage Chameleon brings an authentic blend of past, present and future Drum & Bass to a City near you in such a way only he can do!
