Soma Recordings have been pioneering electronic music since the label began in 1991. Now with the Sci-Fi-Hi-Fi collection they are bringing together visionary producers and DJ's to present a sonic snapshot of their craft. The artists have no parameters to their selection and are free to represent themselves in any style they choose, portraying influences past, present and future.

Following on from Ewan Pearson’s delectable first installment in September last year, Lucien Nicolet aka Luciano is the next artist to grace the series.

Luciano is the Swiss/Chilean DJ/producer who is taking the electronic music scene by storm with his enchanting releases on labels like Peacefrog, Cadenza and Perlon. His DJ sets are legendary, blending deep, minimal techno and experimental electro with the musicality of his South American upbringing. Here he has crafted a beguiling mix which captures his mesmerising style perfectly.

Luciano has mixed this live and in one-take using only vinyl, the result is a deep and seamless trip into the outer realm of cutting edge dance music. He comments “I think it’s so important to keep it real !!! My music is from my hands, from the hands it should come…to the records...to the decks, and mistakes make it real.”

He creates an engaging and hypnotic trip that undulates throughout it’s twenty one tracks. The mix is fluid, pulsing from melodic to tracky while always maintaining a sense of movement. Luciano incorporates tracks from the likes of John Thomas, Serafin, Matt John, Villalobos and Adam Beyer as well as himself to devastating effect and this journey is a true representation of his unique style and sound.

Luciano says “The mix is a selection of modern dance music that I’ve been selecting carefully with various amazing artists. It’s a small and intense idea about my own vision of a dance set, crossing different energies in 1 hour and 19 minutes.”
