Unread Saturday, Feb 17th 2007, 02:23 PM #1 Post Review: Turn ON! @ Love w/ Christian Smith
Well, this party was great - from start to finish. All of the supporting DJ's did an awesome job geting the crowd primed for Christian Smith - especially Zack Roth! Nice set, bruv!

As for Christian Smith, he proved once again that he is one of the finest purveyors of techno in the industry! I like techno, but it can become grating after an hour and a half or so, but not last night...Christian played a sweet mix a smooth swedish techno house and filthy, tracky bangerz! Oh yeah, btw, did anyone else feel how he was PUSHING that system? Whoa! Definately a great choice of venue. Much props and respect to the Core Events Crew for a job well done! Looking forward to the next one...

He was pushing it all right... So much so that the speakers on the right side (facing the DJ booth) of the booth went out towards the end of his set...

Good music though...

It was a cool night and Christian is a totally awesome dude, with tremendous talent!
But I personally didn't like his set much.
Was a bit too much minimal & tech house...

I didn't want ballz off the wall hard, but atleast some pumpin funk would have done, as he usualy played in nyc.

I def look forward to hearing him out next time for sure!

I had a great time last night, Billy started it up proper in the front room and it was a pleasure and an honor to play with him. You Rock Billy. On the main floor, which was packed all night, It was a jackin good time with the Core guys doing a great job. Although not my preferred style, Christian really worked the crowd well. Whatever "IT" is...IT was there last night, it was a special party. Looking forward to the next one!

Nice to meet everyone last night. Thanks to Frank and the Core Crew.

yah, the speakers went out

he's gotten a lil minimal and tech house. I prefered the days of tronic treatment.

all in all it was still great to hear techno being banged out.

rolled in around 2:45 after hitting up tonic for audion which got raided by the cops and shutdown cops were even outside love, it looked like the cops were writing up some sort of ticket ? weird..

it was damn good music tho.. while he has indeed gotten (of course) into minimal a bit, it felt like good old techno to me and i was lovin it.. crowd got a lil weird towards the end.. teeny bopper guidos/ettes and thugs in the mix.
hip hop forever baby

want to thank everyone for coming out last night to celebrate our launch of CoreNYC. We had a blast and will continue the good times the 3rd friday of each month. next party is March 16th as we're gonna warm everyone up for WMC!

billy and chuck set the bar early and got the night off to a great start... crowd in the front room was awesome and really up to it. Our Core Residents did a great job as well, and christian rocked it... was KILLING it toward the end from about 3:30-5.

special thanks to all our friends that we've made over the past year who came out last night.. you all know who you are!

yes the speakers on the one side of the room went out but it was jsut a minor lose wire or something... its all fixed now and is back in tip top condition to the way we all have come to expect from LOVE.

Friday night was definitely a great time. Billy and Chuck definitely rocked the front room out; I've never seen so many people dancing up there Christian definitely did his thing all night, especially (like mike said) from 3:30-5. And of course, much love to my fellow Core NYC compadres. Thanks to everyone who came out, and hope to see you all for a lil' WMC warm-up on 3/16

did Smith play that one too?

I played right before him and played it as my second to last track, around 2:00 am.

thanks to everyone who came out and made Friday such a great night. All of the djs played stellar sets, and Smith absolutely destroyed the place.

good times friday night..all dj's who threw down sets worked LOVE propah!! i was in the front room for the early part of the evening and much respect goes to Chuck Acquisto and Billy Disciple....top notch boys!!! from what i did hear from Mike Dirocco and Frank Chiarello was on point!! i missed Keryn and Zack's sets but i heard nothing but kickass response and most definitely Christian Smith pushed that system to the extreme!! great party and mad props goes out to CORENYC for a solid night of music..thanks for having me..the only issue I had was due to the smoke or "fog" in the place which didnt make for some great photos, but cant win em all and here are some piks from that event..enjoy!!
