Old Thursday, Apr 5th 2007, 12:36 PM #1 Faithless to Perform in the US this Spring, Coachella, NY and SF dates Announced
It’s been a decade since Faithless caused a minor earthquake in the Netherlands by urging 60,000-strong festival attendees to all jump at once while they provided the tunes.

12 years since the instantly recognizable keyboard-driven ‘Insomnia’ hit the world’s airwaves and imprinted the classic into our heads for eternity, as thousands all over would stomp at nightclubs and festivals all over – a sure sign Faithless would be around for a long time.

15 years since North Londoner Rollo Armstrong met Sister Bliss in a recording studio and from that point onwards they soon realized that neither would particularly agree with the other on pretty much anything. On the same note it soon dawned on them that they would never be able to produce what they have without each other, too.

Along came Nicherin Daishonin’s Buddhist Maxi Jazz and well traveled, unwashed hippy Jamie Catto, this was when they all decided it was time to release an album. Reverence was created and Faithless was born – and on the path to becoming a powerful entity.

Faithless has become one of Britain’s best live acts ever since, playing huge summer festivals all across Europe, having headlined Glastonbury and arenas galore. "I think the live arena has changed people's perceptions of us," says Sister Bliss. "We've been up there with the likes of REM and Bob Dylan, all these different kinds of music. I've always been a real crusader for house music and what it means, that feeling inside, when something has got the right sounds and the funk and it makes you feel stuff. I want our own music to have that feeling. It's nice to be able to go out and turn heads, to hear people say, 'I don't like dance music but I quite like Faithless.'"

If a little birdie tells you that the “90’s might well be back” – do take note, for it seems that in some weird twist of irony that is set to come to fruition at this years Coachella: 90’s “enthusiasts” Hot Chip, Klaxons, Lily Allen and The Rapture will share the line up with the likes of Bjork, Sonic Youth, Happy Mondays and of course none other than Faithless in a symbolic shakedown and passing of the batten and a nod to the originators, Old school meets New. Indie electronic will be the beat and tone everyone is set to dance and rock to in 2007. Faithless were one of the dear originators.

“This is my Church…. God is a DJ” embodies the mindset and embracement of a one love musical community, one brought together and personified at a Faithless show. With so many gracing our clubs and venues without a band but with a DJ name these days, with so many incorporating the indie dance infusion into their shows, Faithless are as relevant and as fucking cool as they have ever been.

With Sister Bliss’s spine tingling keys and sequences that are as unmistakable as they are inspiring. Maxi’s hypnotic and intellectual truthful tales of torture, existence, pain and peace all tied in together with kick ass soulful drum beats - simply you tube their live performances and the sea of people simultaneously leap up and down to the pounding beats and keys whilst joyfully nodding heads in agreement to Maxis thoughtful monologues. Maxi is no rapper – he’s a spokesman
for peace, an optimist for humanity but also a realist in tops turvy world.

Rollo never expected me to write 'throw your hands in the air'," recalls Maxi. "He wanted a rhyme about frustration, about somebody who feels so bad he can't even live in his own skin. So I wrote the lyrics and he was taken by them because I guess in general people would write about the situations that frustrate, whereas I was more concerned with the state of mind that causes frustration. When you've got no self-confidence to deal with anything."

Faithless will be ready to release their new album this fall.

Faithless bring us a taste of their Newest Arrival and take the show on the road – refreshing our minds and reviving our souls (and dancing shoes) this spring in NYC, San Francisco and Coachella 2007.
