I didn't want to use the words Trance or Electro because those terms are laden with too many misconceptions... but yeah. The set was trance-y in its rhythms, electro-y in its arrangements, and awesome all over.

i got there mad early to make sure i didn't have a hard time with the door - i remember see'n unsespecting suits and heels doing their little 2-step to the minimal electro... I was like damn, I hope Sven punishes these fuckers. hahaha and he deffinitly did.

Oof...good party. But vicodin and 10 drinks don't mix well. I was pretty loopy. And kasia left her wallet in the cab and couldn't get in, so i left by 3am to meet up with her. Heard i missed a good 2 hours. Oh well, enjoyed the 3 hours i was there immensely.

So he banged it out? Cool.

Time has proven our perceptions often line-up.

I was not critiquing the trance-y tendencies. When I first him play this pitched down techno (with trance-y qualities), I did not understand what was happening (I was 18 and was moreso interested in more obvious feel-good trance/house) and was quickly annoyed by his set then. But it seems like the tastes of the times have caught up with Sven's style and I am bummed I missed out on this. For me, these qualities are often disguised as "bright timbred techno" in a stripped down way that only Sven (or even perhaps Germans) seem capable of doing. It's a Germanic, pre-Oakenfold style of trance with roots in acid and techno. Sprockets done right.

Did he play any driving pitched up techno in the style of his "Sounds of the 7th Season" mix?

this is why i live in new york city, this is why i listen to electronic dance music, this is why i party at cielo, this is why i believe in robots, and this is why i danced to sven vath until the end:

the ‘this’ that I speak about could only of be articulated through the experience of ‘you had to be there’. a year of anticipation in new york city built up a tall wall of expectation for sven vath’s return-not only did sven rise to the occasion, he catapulted the entire crowd over to the other side. launching everyone’s hands into the air, we caught every sound that sven threw out there for us. the experience last night was structured upon robot resident dj’s dennis rodgers’, bill patrick’s and nick ac’s opening set-each member layered the next track to create a musical rail system for sven to climb on, dance in, swing from and jump off. the ‘this’ that i spoke of is worth more than a thousand words and i’ll let the photographs and videos speak for themselves-if you were captured in them you would understand. this was not to be missed!

left @ 4am, wish could stay longer but had to work this morning, still really late though, too much dance

place was packed and caught the end of nick's set which was good. i wasn't feeling sven...but im not a fan at all at this electro craze...i will say that 10 minutes into his set he was already better than his set at pacha last year!

i thought half the crowd was german last night!
