just wanted to post this here because i know a lot of u might have music websites...

anyway,,,bottom line is last sept my site was shut down and i called up and they said i went over my bandwith and owed 30 bux for overages for that month,,,so i paid and requested that they send me an email letting me know i was over as opposed to just shutting it down and they said they would....

then a couple of dayz ago my sites were shut down and i called and they said that i owe them 547 for overages for the last couple of months?? wtf!! they never sent me one email b4 this and in the past shut it down for 30 bux but this time let it go till 547,,,now its 604..

i mean its not like a million ppl r dling music from there,,,and i know its a bit my fault for not checking carefully but c'mon...

worst part is that they wont even turn it on if i pay half and the rest by the end of the month,,,plus they have the rudest customer service ppl in the world and they lie about sending emails and their policies..

there r so many better hosts and i am lucky to have found a great deal w/a friend which is exponentially cheaper than CI HOST and w/great customer service --- if any one wants 2 know details just pm me and i'll give u the guy's aim

sweet jeezus.

few questions:

1. How much bandwidth are you going through monthly, and do you have a record of this? (ie: stats program output)
2. How much bandwidth is your account allotted per month?
3. Can you point us in the direction of their Terms of Service (TOS)

I run a web hosting company, and when a customer even gets near the bandwidth limit, email alerts are AUTOMATICALLY sent to the client and to the admin notifying of a possible overage. So by the sound of things, what they're doing is rather inexcusable.

ok yo -
from my quick glance through, you got SERIOUSLY burned.

you're not alone though ...

cihost.com ///// that who you're talking about????

two words struck me immediately: UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH.

one word: RUN.

lesson to everybody on the planet:
if you see 'unlimited' ANYTHING (diskspace, bandwidth) RUN. FAST. i have seen similar people like you be totally screwed (in magnitudes of assfucking FAR exceeding yours, btw) because of 'unlimited' promises. read the TOS.

I just spent the past hour reading about them and their shady dealings. Constant sueing to debilitate clients, fake "top host" listing companies, shoddy tech support, the list goes on. They look to be about the worst possible hosting operation out there. Their entire business model is built on the glitz and glam of their site, and their fake awards.

I fell for that "unlimited" BS a few years ago, before i knew any better, too.

beware phpwebhosting.com!!

They continually oversell server space, at the worst, and could "never find anything wrong" with their servers, when my site would be crashing constantly... until i threw up my own system information script... and realized the typical server load was between 15.00-19.00

getting a web host -- in my honest opinion -- is kind of like getting a new drug dealer:

there's SO many out there. PLEASE PLEASE. get one through a friend -- through a referral. otherwise you don't know what you're gonna get -- you're making a quick judgement based on a website and then (if you decide to go forward) taking a big chance you won't get burned.

I had unlimited BBQ at a Brazillian restaurant in Ironbound Newark last week.
