Is there a way around the endless remote queuing?

What music is "legal" to download - ther is no info on the release label or anything. . . are producers promoting their unsigned tracks via soulseek?

I have seen producers doing some promotion on soulseek . I know I do a little promoting myself on slsk . My name on there is STEELWHEELKING hit me up when you r on there.

right, I just downloaded it today. tried to DL like 6-8 songs, none will come through. Hit me up on aim at brianowen624 . . . I cant figure the messaging out on slsk

remote queueing= you have to wait your turn. I think it's remote queueing when the person you're trying to dl from signs off.

Remote queueing happens when the person you are trying to dl from has specified they only want to allow a certain amount of dls possible at one time. Ex. They specify that they only want to allow five dls at a time. If you are trying to dl the sixth song, you will be told to wait("remote queue"). Once one of the five other songs have been dled, then your dl will go through.

a lot of users only share music with people in their buddy list. i also highly recommend donating $5 to Soulseek. it let's you cut to the front of the line for 30 days and they often extend that by 5 or 6 days. go on a downloading binge.

i see people on SS promoting themselves all the time. DJ's usually throw up their mixes and even producers put up tracks every now and then. the only problem with this is that if everyone gets ahold of a good, unsigned track then the odds are slim that a record company is going to want sign a track people already have. yes, you get some recognition but you can also end up shooting yourself in the foot.

i have a mac, is there a way to get around downloading compiling software for a quick install? (also for dc++)

yeah ya-ya, buy a cheap pc it's worth it (really! im a mac-head but slsk runs soOoOo much better even on the cheapest of pcs)

and as far as getting sued by the RIAA i would simply stay clear of majors and semi majors such as astralwerks, etc

Some tips:

Share good rare DJ sets, and browse files of peeps that download your stuff. Send them a private message and ask 4 privileged dl... If they like your stuff, they'll give it to u... Block people that have no good shares, its not worth your upload. Save names of peeps with good/many shares in your userlist. Browse regularly 4 new stuff...
When searching, look 4 low que/high upload numbers & immediate downloads. High upload servers tend to have huge cues, but if you're 24hrs online, its worth to wait. If not 24hrs online, forget it, youll end up down in the que when u log on again...

Quick tip - if you do a search, the bold items returned indicate that they're available for immediate download. Anything shaded means you're gonna wait in queue to get the song. If you do double-click a shaded link, you can right-click the subsequent listing that will come up in your "transfers" list to get your place in line, which should give you a basic idea of how long you'll have to wait to get the song.

A word of advice - if you search for something and get multiple hits as a result, sort them (by clicking on the column header) by either size (bigger files usually indicate a higher bitrate recording) or by K/s - which is your DL speed (kilobytes per second, the higher the number the faster you'll get the song).
