DES082
Dan Berkson & James What Feat Robert Owens : Keep On (Stimming Remix) : Dessous : 12"
‚Keep On‘ is a straight up soulful vocal cut that keeps the energy locked in amongst a finelyjacked modern house roll. Tightly swung beats work a deep sub bass undercurrent straight to the floor, allowing Owen‘s silky vocals to shine through. Dessous Headquarters Alert: Summer Anthem! Hamburg‘s widely respected Martin Stimming, of Diynamic fame, supplies a superbly funked remix that uses the full vocal to tell an equally satisfying story with true depth and soul. Stimming‘s slow building and constant vibes honour Owen‘s vocals, allowing them to stay at the forefront of the mix, building the song with floating and melodic trademark orchestral sequences. Secondly, recent Dessous rising stars of the deep and fellow Londoners Two Armadillos have built something special with their remix which climbs and climbs through mystical valleys of early morning, dewy splendour. A solid pumping kick drum underpins a totally blissed deep house vibe thats full of energy and their trademark hybrid of classic vs modern. Finally its an honour to welcome Philadelphia‘s King Britt to Dessous, remixing ‚Keep On‘ into a spaced out acid-disco monster. Chunky warehouse style acid house meets futuristic mind bending minimalism in this very unique and defining remix.

SOUVENIR009
Ruede Hagelstein : The Modest : Souvenir : 12"
‘The Modest Theme’ is slice of epic and chilling tech house. House or techno rarely comes as dramatic as this and its accompanying tracks add fuel to these insistent, urgent themes. Ruede’s remix of Dillon’s ‘C Unseen Sea’ gathers ghostly surging wind noises and the eerie effects-soaked sounds of a child together with foreboding percussion. The final track ‘It’s On’ picks up the pace of the EP for a bustling finale. A 303 style bassline opens and filters closed throughout the track raising the tension and releasing the pressure while unsettling synths and reverb soaked percussion continue the mysterious, surreal vibe of the EP. Since then he’s been attracting praise from DJs like Claude Von Stroke and Laurent Garnier and catching the ears of Souvenir bosses Ali and Basti from Tiefschwarz with records like his acclaimed Ghostdriver EP in 2007.

Metronomy : Holiday : Because Music / Ed Banger : 12"
With their new album in the bag and slated for release this September, and a wealth of festival appearances on the horizon for the coming months, Metronomy drop new single ‘Holiday’ this July. Lyrically, it may be a humourous spotlight on fairly commonplace relationship-induced tensions, but sonically, ‘Holiday’ flies the flag for the darker, disenchanted elements of Metronomy’s new long player.

MORRIS062
Ekkohaus : Out Thing / GummiHZ Rmx : Morris Audio: 12"
Morris Audio 62 is a joint venture from two of the most outstanding greek producers (em well, living both in Berlin
now….): Ekkohaus and GummiHZ! And they present what they do best: Ekkohaus (hot with his Cargo Edition
release) gives us two great summer tunes, house stylee, with fat bouncing basslines. And GummiHZ (big with his
releases on Mobilee) turns „our thing“ into a minimal dancefloor smasher – reduced to the max, but adding
highlights where necessary, this track will be in your box for a long time! And yes, we got a new design!

OSTGUTTT018
Prosumer + Mur : Serenity : Ostgut Tontraeger : 12"
Ostgut Ton heads for the summer with a new 12“ by Prosumer & Murat Tepeli. This time, the duo has Soundstream and his „Dusty Machine Mix“ of „Serenity“ on board. His deep and hypnotic remix captures the sound and
atmosphere of Prosumer & Murat Tepeli's album and leaves enough room for melancholy, playfulness and bassy grooves. As a bonus, there is the vocal mix of the album track „Believe“. It casts a spell by delaying the climax. The
interplay of measured chords, a driving bassline and ecstatic melodic sequences make for an emotional journey on the dancefloor and through the night. To round things off, this ep includes „Serenity“ which had previously been
available on cd only. It carries us out into a world of balance and inner peace. Pure serenity!

TRAPEZ089
Patrice Baeumel : Flow : Trapez : 12"
Patrice Patrice Bäumel is a phenomena on Trapez. He has only released two records on the label, and has little to do with the minimal scene in Germany, but nevertheless has always managed to get a lot of people involved in his records.
His releases have been hits on the floor and we see these two tracks in exactly the same tradition. Patrice is resident in the Club 11 in Amsterdam and has a good production run at the moment. He has just finished two new records
for Trapez. His coming record "Flow" provides on it´s a-side a cool mighty Chicago techno house track with grinding basslines, stuttering vocals and an overall old school touch. The track suites a hedonistic crowd, drag queens,
glam rock new school rave people... house lovers, wild pitch fans, a techno crowd.... Well a track "too cool for this world" with occasional organ stabs, which Patrice seems to have chosen with a lot of empathy for the overall
feeling of that track. Carefully dropping these stabs without any foreboding or announcement, this tracks shows great skill and control when it comes to the thrilling build-up-dynamic with seemingly few elements. A master at work!
"Cavern" on the b-side is the more crazy track with a strong new school touch.

APT005
Hideo Kobayashi : The Puzzle / Jerome Sydenham Remix : Apotek : 12"
Jerome Sydenham's Mighty Dub remix of Hideo Kobayashi's "The Puzzle" is simple energetic and very
efficient track. Ablaze with stabs and a funky beat it does nothing less than thrown you into a state of Tech-House
frenzy. Jerome Sydenham dons his Techno hat to express his interpretation of the Heart of Darkness in "Congo". Big
kicks, punchy bass lines and a deep house hook make "Congo" not only fresh in Sydenham's production
approach but also very accessible to all those who are Tech inclined.

KK028
Jenn : Cheeky Interface (Rebekah Remix) : Karate Klub : 12"
With “Cheeky", Jenn presents a groovy and much more minimal side then we allready heard on her last ep. Suprising and reduced, her sounds looping up and down, embedded in a clonky basedrum structure. The Remix, made by Rebekah, well known from her releases on Criminal Records, is just fantastic and completes the EP brilliantly. She desinged a hugh groove and pushed it forward. By adding her ideas she creates an excellent new track. The Interface original is specified by stomping and jigging beats, which get intermitted by smooth voices and melodies, before pushing it up again.

ITALIC079
Antonelli : Hamilton Versions : Italic : 12"
ITALIC would like to announce two fantastic great new super-funky minimal discofied electronic dance remixes for HAMILTON - the original version is taken from ANTONELLI's new SOULKILLER album. The remix on side A refers to U.S. House Music from the 80s and funk music from New York-based New Wave bands such as Liquid Liquid or ESG. ANTONELLI's new remix version combines these two music styles and turns them into funky, dirty sounds which are irresistibly danceable, highly imaginative, and tremendously emotional. And the remix on the flipside comes from SECONDO - producer and founder of minimal house label Dreck Records. SECONDO's discofied cut-up funky electronic dance music has been appearing sporadically on Soul Jazz Records since 2003 and has been releasing music on his own Dreck Records since 2000. Departing from existing popular songs of various origins, SECONDO cuts his source material carefully into minute fragments in order to compose entirely new pieces of music somehow
maintainig the atmosphere of the original, but shifting away from it structurally and rhythmically far beyond the boundaries of editing.

Fukkk Offf : Rave Is King : Coco Machete : 12"
Bastian Heerhorst, also known as FUKKK OFFF brought the heat at the end of 2007 with electro hip hop stormer "I'm A Freak" which gained huge support from djs and clubs across all genres and time zones. He's back for summer 'o8 with a three track monster called "Rave Is King". If you wanted more after "I'm A Freak", then you've got it. The a-side kicks off with the single for which the e.p. is named and it starts out with a computer voice chanting "Neon Lights, Party People, Revolution, Rave Is King" backed by a maximized electro basslines straight out of 2008. The flashback comes in after about four minutes taking you back to 1988 with piano stabs from when Rave was only a young prince. Next up is "Rock Paper Scissors" which is quite simply a monster builder that only gives you rare glimpses of a release. On the b-side things take a decidedly darker turn with "Black Phantom" another beast with menacing organ grinds and horror movie vocal snips. Dark, pounding and relentless, "Rave Is King" brings you the full view of the royal court of FUKKK OFFF.

PFRWHITE04
Gamel Kabar : The Filfth (3 Channels Remix) : Poker Flat White : 12"
Crisp drums, repetitive synths and a dark atmosphere characterise his signature sound. Now Gamal makes his debut on Poker Flat White with „The Filth“, a pumping and hypnotic Techno-tune. The track builds over a tigh kick drum, hihiats and a super dry snare to pave way for freaky coltish and hypnotising synth stabs. „Critical Times (We Are Fucked)“ on B2 is a brilliant reduced floorshaker. Gamal‘s freaky synths are well directed here and underline the urgency of the vocal shreds. The remix for „The Filth“ has been crafted by Polish heroes 3Channels. The duo is already known for their releases on Trenton, Trapez, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird and others. They are also the guys behind the new project Catz N‘ Dogz and will release their debut album on Dirtybird in autumn. They keep the driving tightness of the original while adding new beats to the track. They rearranged Gamal‘s freaked out synthies and build them more subtle to let them erupt in raw and uncontrolled peaks. A brilliant remix for peak time dancefloors!

Daniel Steinberg : Uptown : Front Room : 12"
“Uptown” has the beats, bleeps and bass that Daniel has become renowned for and with its cut-up vocals is catching peoples heads just like he did with his hugh smash “Pay for me". On the flip “Revival” is a more hypnotically deep groover that builds continuously yet remains innovative and intriguing from begining to end. Daniel Steinberg’s releases are being played by the likes of Ricardo Vilalobos, Luciano, Claude VonStroke and Richie Hawtin to name a few and his talents continue to blossom with every stroke. Many of Daniel Steinberg productions are main stays in the sets of label boss Jesse Rose who’s global popularity is a product of his individual style and fresh take on music. This release is another illistration of Jesse’s A&R skills in full action. Artists such as Jesse Rose, Solid Groove (aka Switch), Trevor Loveys, Deadset and Style of Eye are just some of the artists that have released on Front Room Recordings in the past.

OLM018
Layo & Bushwacka! : Now Is The Time : Olmeto : 12"
‘Now is The Time’ has its feet placed firmly in 2008 - a crisp, clean techno bassline, topped by hand claps, snatches of breathy female vocal, and full of an irresistible array rattles, whooshes and other indefinable sounds that the duo seem to pull from the depths of their imaginations. It breaks with some simple electronic sounding chords and a stirring Martin Luther King sample that makes this record so memorable. ‘The Time Was Then’ is based around that same sample, but gives a cheeky nod to a few years back, with a bassline and keys that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on their seminal ‘Night Works’ album. It never goes too far towards nostalgia, though, and either would rip up a late night dancefloor!

SVT022
Hirtenfeller & Philip Bader : Monday EP : Stil Vor Talent : 12"
They start out with the title track “Monday": a groovy and funky minimal affair that generates its energy from its wonderful bass line. Some tripped-out effects and police sirens complement the music. “I Try". A vocoded vocal sample saying “I try to find” is the constant that drives that mad digital loop forward. The pulsating minimal track is pushed by a wobbly bass, some well-placed samples and that extra bit of white noise: Extremely hypnotic! The last of the bunch is “Freude 25″ which is the perfect contrast to “Monday". Where Monday describes the feeling of loss and happiness equally, Freude 25 shows us what happens if you stay until Tuesday. The tripped out, somewhat oriental sounding digital effects pave the way for this fest of afterhour-business!

Leakage and Nano are taken from the CD version of the upcoming Dub Taylor album on Opossum Recordings, which will violently hit you pretty soon. For those who still go for Carl Craigs brilliant remix of Theo Parrishs “Falling Up” - you will definitely fall in love with Leakage. This track was originally intended to be the intro of the album and after listening to it for a while, we developed an appetite for a extended version. Now, this EP will be the only possibility to get it on vinyl. Nano is a deep pumping percussive tool, perfectly suitable light the fires of the upcoming Open Air season and comes with weird and trippy sequences in the break. And if you want to screw up some ravers brains in the peaktime, just throw Trickbeat and see whats crackin´

MSHIP008
Maetrik : Space Chronic EP : Mothership : 12"
We’re pretty sure that Maetrik sent us his latest EP from a grow room orbiting the Earth. His Space Chronic EP combines the innovation of techno with a sense of fun missing from your average four on the floor banger. It’s a little shocking, but the results have been exactly what we’d expect from the Dallas native - mass freaking on the dancefloor. The albums’ lead single, Sex With Bass, explores the type of low frequencies that usually occur when suspension bridges tear apart. All the while a subsonic voice repeats its desire to have sex… with bass! Stab Jockey throws a techno curveball at the start, utilizing rhythmic synths over a simple beat. Don’t trust it! Midway through, the line clears out for full-frequency busting bass drops. On the flip, Crawl Machine immediately builds a head-nodding groove that wastes no time firing off its boosters – half the track is a sneaky buildup. By the time the kick slams back in, you’re already back in orbit.

V / A : Great Summergames Stuff : Great Stuff : 2x12"
Limited 2x12” with 8 exclusive anthems by 8 amazing artists from 8 different countries to support their national
teams at the Olympic summer games in the Chinese capital Beijing. This is the concept behind the second
Great Stuff compilation (after the very successfull Great Carnival Stuff earlier this year) full of wonderful exclusive
tracks. And of course the original Olympic idea (“not to win but to take part”) is inseparably linked to the respect of the
human rights. Be it in the sports stadium or on the dancefloor. This ideal is emphasized by the Austrian duo
Makossa & Megablast who decided to start for Tibet (instead of their home country) with a Mantra spoken by
Konchok Yoenten.

BPC179
Chaim : Africomania : Bpitch Ctrl : 12"
It’s time for the second round... prepare your decks. After his outstanding debut on BPitch Control named “Moon” (BPC169), CHAIM from Tel Aviv presents his second masterpiece with catalogue number BPC179. “AFRICOMANIA” is the melodic name of this brandnew release and we’re proud to present one of the most groovy and intoxicating records of the year 2008. A: “AFRICOMANIA” Minimal but very effective sounds at it’s best. A permanent movement describes the A-side the best. The track is coming up with a solid kickdrum, a vibrating bassline and echo effects that will truly take your breath away. We’ve already tested this single in detail and after all we have the authority to confirm that “Africomania” is a guaranteed highlight - an absolute duty for your record case. Keep on moving. B: “CHICKEN KIEV” Full Power on the flipside. A track in typically CHAIM manner. This special “Chicken Kiev” contains only the best fillings: an excellent drum progamming surrounded by a groove that goes from your ears down to your feet, and
finally escalates with full speed. Maximum pressure and definitely a real dancefloor killer. This dish is, of course, served fresh and hot. You’ll love it. Just play it out loud and let the crowd freak out.

many deejays who already responded really quicky to the promo mailout and also full support by James Holden on this release, especially on the 'R-Type' track which he's playing in nearly every set for the last months!

TEC003
Dubfire : I Feel Speed / Audion, Booka Shade & Unkle RMXs : Sci + Tec : 12"
‘I Feel Speed’ – the third release by SCI+TEC – offers a rousing progressive house interpretation of an overlooked
Love & Rockets song with Dubfire on vocal duty. A substantial nod to his musical beginnings, ‘I Feel Speed’ is
further proof that artistically, Dubfire isn’t afraid to push boundaries, something for which he’s been increasingly
heralded. While the “Dubfire Original Club Mix” is not a true reflection of Dubfire's current sound, the remix
package certainly is! The original is based around live drums, rock riff and a vocal from Dubfire himself that
generates real emotion. First on remix duty comes the awesome Booka Shade who expertly chop up the vocals
and efx, matching them with a driving electro rhythm and their trademark synths. With a super fresh remix from
Matthew Dear in his Audion mode, the track pushes the boundaries of modern sound. Once again, Dear delivers a quirky remake that is totally different yet refreshingly upbeat -- tailored completely for the main room floors!!
UNKLE completes the package with a torrential progressive house take.

INS12008
Surkin : Radio Fireworks : Institubes : 12"
Kiss & Fly » is a heavy, truculently paced track which takes three minutes to build up the runway for a flying synthetic woman with a smile so heartening it’s shady. She’s actually more of a woman-jingle than a proper woman, but I mean, isn’t that much better? Then « Radio Fireworks » does everything, loves everything and knows what you don’t know. It’s a simple yet dense and solid track, with harmonies that work both like rhythmic engines and emotional stimulators. Its artificial vocals teach us many things about humanity that real voices will never able to. The kick is so tight and definitive you won’t even dare touch it, like those super-athletic butts some playmates have. So if I’d have to sum up this tune, I’d say it’s like Indo Silver Club + Soundhack + Hooo-lyyy-Wooood sur la French Riviera.

Bobmo : Let's Go Bobmo! : Institubes : 12"
BOBMO is a young (17) producer hailing from the hyperactive city of Paris via the even more hyper city of Bordeaux. While in high school, with no musical training, he launched a short-lived rap career, making beats on his Playstation (no, really!), spitting awkward tales of murder and woe. Bordeaux is a pretty cool place and, hanging out with the right crowd, going to the right club, and listening to the right radio show, Bobmo got into Detroit techno, Miami bass, electro and, most importantly, Chicago house. He got himself a PC and downloaded everything from legendary labels Dancemania and Trax. Like so many kids (he’s 19, by the way) of the P2P generation, he ended up taking matters into his own hands. This is the result: “LET’S GO BOBMO!”.

Influx UK : Show ‘Em What You’ve Got / Gliese : Allsorts : 12"
Show ’Em What You’ve Got’ is instantly recognisable, and you know it’s a big tune from the moment you hear the first note. Taking the classic sample used by Public Enemy and more recently Jay-Z, the intro rolls into a jazzy half time head nodder. A snippet of Flavor Flav’s timeless vocal builds this up into a classic Influx tear out. l‘Gliese’ flips things up completely and provides the perfect antidote to first tracks relentless energy. Beginning with smooth guitar licks and bright upbeat bongos an entrancing aura then subsides over the track before a deep sub bass work out kicks in. Swirling FXs and snappy beats are the order of the day here as Influx rolls out as only he can.

Secret Society : Grind House Dub / Tabla Jam Remix : Backlash Records : 12"
Backlash 002 presents us with a glimpse of the mindset of upcoming production duo Secret Society: lSide A (Grind House Dub) is a mysterious roller starting out with swirling percussion and minimal keys and giving way to growling sub bass and a gently menacing atmosphere. Spooked out snare rushes contribute to an already ghastly vibe before dropping into unique amen/sub-bass edits. This tune will undoubtedly leave your mind in a suspicious state. lSide AA is an entirely new take on the sounds of South Asia, with a hypnotic future-dub presence taking control on a remix of ZedCopter’s "Tabla Jam". An initial spaced-out sitar invites a darkly intriguing arpeggio. This soon leads way to deep subs and subdued spoken word, accented by the sting of frigid stabs and Bhangra beats. This is an enigmatic approach to South Asian electronica, and we can’t wait to hear more from this duo. lDJ Support: Nehal, Amit, Outrage

Survival : Flashlight EP : Horizons Music : 2x12"
A: Colours. Survival shows just what he’s made of right from the off with the incredible power of ‘Colours’, a stunning slice of breakbeat funk infused with heavy bass and some skipping beats all topped off with plenty of atmosphere. B: Out The Door. Next up is the Tech-step influenced ‘Out The Door’, fuelled with a bassline so powerful it could knock out a donkey from 15 paces. A track reminiscent of the very best of what Virus had to offer, all mingled with some fresh flavours for your ears. C:Flashlight. The EP’s title track is up next with a subtle percussive intro and more of that inimitable weighty bass that Survival loves so much. Once again this incredible producer shows you how to keep things minimal, but always interesting. D: Five Miles. Last but definitely not least, ‘Five Miles’ goes on that epic tip with some driving bass and a light and airy break. The perfect way to round off an amazing extended player; Survival, we salute you!

Body & Soul vs. CAMO & Krooked : Nasca / Change The Course : Nasca : 12"
Known for their prodigious output on BC recordings, the boys cite their own eclectic backgrounds in everything from classical to metal, hardcore, breakbeat and techno to paving the way for an output that is pure epic dancefloor business with just enough grit for the head–bangers to get their grime on. Their unique trademark sound will be reflected in all Nasca releases. With plans to continue pushing themselves both in and outside the studio, the duo is anticipating the coming year to be a big one. Body&soul have also just recently signed one track to DJ Fresh´s BreakBeatKaos imprint. That under the belt the boys show no sign of easing off the accelerator any time soon. www.myspace.com/bodyandsoulmusic CAMO&KROOKED: During the day Camo is a professional skateboarder – at night he still has time and energy to write tunes Within 6 months in 2007 he had over 15 vinyl releases on Formation, Defunked and Timeless to name a few. Krooked, who just turned 18 years age, is truly a whizz kid. Not long ago he wasn´t even allowed to go to clubs but his tunes were already regulars at numerous raves around the world. He just had his debut release on Basswerk records. Camo&Krooked are releasing their debut release as a duo on the mighty Timeless Recordings in spring 2008. . www.myspace.com/camokrooked A: BODY&SOUL – NASCA This tune has been in the box of many top DJs like Pendulum, DJ Fresh, John B and Concord Dawn etc. There is a reason for this track having the same name as the label, it perfectly reflects what Body&soul and Nasca Records are all about: Deep melodic soundscapes with electrified vocals that put your mind into a trance just before it drops into some breathtaking modulated bass mayhem. AA: BODY&SOUL vs. CAMO&KROOKED – CHANGE THE COURSE Living in the same country the above mentioned folks have teamed up to create a monstrous anthem of epic proportions. Many of the scene´s most in demand Djs like John B for example have opened their sets for quite a while with this anthem. A Body

Fresh BC : Gold Dust / The Field : Breakbeat Kaos : 12"
Highly Limited! Ever wondered what would happen if drum ’n’ bass collided with electro-house? Well here’s the answer; DJ Fresh is what would happen! Breakbeat Kaos pile on the pressure again as the label honcho steps up with yet another blazing release on his infamous imprint. l’Gold Dust’ is a masterclass in how to make tough yet feel-good drum ’n’ bass. Don’t be fooled by the eerie intro for when the D Ramirez-style electro stab enters the fray, the lights come up and a warm summer glow oozes from the speakers. When the drop comes the rising riff is joined by a rather large kick and snare combo that sounds so crisp and is bound to get any floor shaking. Watch out for the surprise middle section too full of funked up vocal edits and gnarly bass. lTurn the page and Fresh takes things a little deeper and darker with ’The Field’, harking back to the good old days with its rough and ready break and creeping bass. Fans of the vintage Bad Company sound should lap this up as the b-line twists and turns, leading us down a slippery slope that’ll have ravers marching the world over. lAn awesome release that’s been doing the damage for the likes of Adam F, Sub Focus, Friction, Mampi Swift, Fresh and many more.

REVREC017
Break : No Going Back / Let It Lie : Revolution Recordings : 12"
Following on from the success of ‘Spirits’ 'Not Enough' and ‘Longed Out’, Break joins the Revolution with his first solo 12” and, as always, he has delivered the goods in style, with ‘No going back’ having featured on Break & Fierce’s much lauded ATM Mag mix CD and on their celebrated appearance on Bailey’s 1xtra show. A roller from the outset with its layered beats and hypnotic atmosphere, ‘No going back’ builds the pressure and doesn’t stop. Once the bass groove gets hold and begins to work with the grinding mids there is quite literally no going back. Bad! ‘Let it lie’ is a gentle stepper that you can let do the work for you. Caressed by deep, temperate textures and hints of guitar, the boom bass will get heads nodding and bodies swaying while the hazy sunshine vibe will take care of the rest: a perfect summer anthem. Watch the ride. Be a part of the Revolution.

SKC : The World Has Changed / Close Encounter : Commercial Suicide : 12"
[PRE-ORDER ONLY] Few would argue that one of the producers who has put Hungary on the map of drum’n’bass is SKC. After becoming a classical music fan and training himself to play the piano during his teenage years. He had his first notable releases on Trace’s DSCI4 imprint, some of which got rinsed by many of the elite players all over the globe. Since then, having got in touch with some of the biggest names in the scene, his tunes have been enjoying support from the likes of Klute, Concord Dawn, Ed Rush, BSE, Pendulum, Flight, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Digital, Spirit, Matrix, Marky, Dieselboy, Andy C and so on. SKC tries to inject some musical elements into d’n’b both in the studio and behind the decks, but he doesn’t mind the odd dancefloor anthem either. Like a rollercoaster ride, his productions cover the whole spectrum of this varied genre from the dubby sounds and rollers through the big smashers and vocal crowd pleasers to the minimalistic techno vibes.

KAP001
Joker : Holly Brook Park / 80s : Kapsize 12"
2008 is going to be the year that Joker blows up. He's already been causing a stir with releases such as the recent anthem 'Gully Brook Lane' on Soul Jazz and last year's sell out 'Stuck In The System' on 'Earwax as well as remixes for Simeon Mobile Disco 'I Believe' and Roni Size 'Don't Hold Back' (...that frankly, make the originals look weak!). It's high time now for Joker to unleash his finest works yet on his own brand new Bristol-based imprint 'Kapsize'. Kapsize 001 launches with a double ASide release 'Holly Brook Park' and '80s'. Both tracks showcase Joker's insanely genius production style; a kind of melting pot of influences that take the best elements of Neptunes, Dirty South and West Coast Hip Hop instrumentals - then mangle them up at 140bpm with a UK grime attitude, a dubstep bass weight aesthetic and an attention to melodic development that remains unrivaled to this day. 'Holly Brook Park' is a rave and radio anthem that people will be coming back to for years to come. It's the one that gets the girls screaming and the boys swinging their arms in the air for a wheel up! Smashed to bits on dubplate by Plastician, Benga, Kode 9 this one of those rare rhythms that can unite the ravers and the chin strokers in a dance. Yes DJ - bring that back to the edge... Flip over for the awesome '80s'. Thinking about alarm clocks round necks and cassette tapes? Well don't dwell on that too long - the year might as well be 2080! Joker delivers another totally infectious melody here that will not leave your head once it's heard.. and you won't be in a hurry to get it out for a change! Reaching deeper this time round, '80s' has been a favourite on 'plate for many including Pinch, Peverelist and Kode 9 among others. Guaranteed to work your subs hard! Everything Joker touches right now is turning to gold - and this release really pushes the post up another notch. Check..

*LTD SMOKEY VINYL* The second instalment of the Tube10 series shows some deep down under pressure in the form of Spherix. For the A side he teamed up with fellow Australian producer Kwality to bring to you "Look Back". Starting with its 4x4/2step beat it evolves into a melodic clash between dubstep and minimal while it keeps on rolling into new ventures. A tube10 perfect fit! The flip holds "Drone" a great minimal wobbler that could best be described as what would happen if Pinch his Underwater Dancehall spent a year or 2 in the fridge cause this one is ice ice coll. RINSE002P
Beezy : Thoughts In Retrospect : Rinse : 2x12"
Thoughts In Retrospect is the first single from Rinse’s debut artist signing Beezy. lA fantastic lyricist, possessing an ability to paint vivid images with the potency of Eminem and effortlessness of Tricky, his combination of bold and vulnerable has endeared him to the aforementioned producers and fans across the globe. lAlthough this is his first introduction proper to a mainstream audience, Beezy has already cut his teeth with the cream of British producers including Skream, Benga, Plastician and Coki DMZ, self-releasing two albums and numerous mixtapes giving them away as free downloads. l‘Thoughts In Retrospect’, produced by Benga is a light-hearted dally back to Reece Smith’s cheeky nipper days: chasing girls, getting up to mischief and generally having fun with mates. lSnapshots Of A Glass Portal is an altogether more sombre offering, the tone is set by minor keys and sparse drums from Distance over which Beezy delivers a morbidly fascinating 4 minute monologue so rich in its description the listener is compelled to see the stark point of view directly through his eyes. lTRACKLISTING: A THOUGHTS IN RETROSPECT B THOUGHTS IN RETROSPECT (INST.) Samiyam : Return / Trick Platform / Moon Shoes / Cheesecake Backslap : HyperDub : 12"
Hyperdub’s first US signing, and first hip hop tempo release comes from Flying Lotus sidekick, straight out of LA, Samiyam. With colab releases with Flylo under the name FLYamSAM, and a recent album release on Lotus’s new Brainfeeder label, ‘Rap Beats’, and a stunning, recent remix for Pattie Blingh for Ramp Recordings, Samiyam is rising fast. All the tunes on the Return E.P. carry Samiyam’s signature synth sound, melancholy melodies, and off-kilter, post- Dilla funk that will make you bump, your brain tingle, while you are simultaneously crying your eyes out. This style is perfected on the track ‘Return’ which has been featured in many a Flylo mix from the last couple of years, and the ultra-lazy grooves of the 8-bit ‘Trick Platform’ which plugs in nicely to recent Hyperdub releases from Quarta 330, Ikonika, Zomby and Rustie. On the flip, ‘Moon Shoes’ and ‘Cheesecake Backslap’, the drums get turned up, and the quantize function thrown out the window. Loose, lop-sided but totally funktional, this release brings a bit of smoggy, toxic West Coast sunshine to stiff old, gloomy UK.

OFF002
Twisted : Erratic / Machine Riddim : Off Road Records : 12"
OFF001 by Canada’s DZ was a hard act to follow, but luckily there’s a man who is more than up to the job! Fresh from the success of his recent release ‘Contact’, OFF002 is a seriously heavyweight plate from Twisted, a member of Germany’s acclaimed Dutty Dubz crew. ‘Erratic’ is a grimey monster of a tune, the subtleties of the intro with its pattering bongos and stealthy pads giving no indication of the carnage to come. Dropping harder than a ton of bricks, the filthy buzzsaw bass comes swooping in beneath slamming halfstep beats, squirming between the enormous bashy snares and sinister electro-riff topline. On the flipside Twisted goes a little more leftfield, tapping into the chiptune flavour that’s currently permeating the dubstep scene via the likes of Rustie and Zomby. ‘Machine Riddim’ is the sound of a thousand robots malfunctioning, with its clanking percussion and mathematical 8-bit patterns. Marching whitenoise riddims interlock above bitcrushed synths, jarring incidentals and thunderous subs. Support from N-Type (Rinse FM), The Others (Dub Police), Bunzer0 (Sub FM, Belgium), Djunya (SF), DJG (Narco.Hz) and many more…

Elemental : Zimbal Dub / Boxed In : Runtime Records : 12"
Elemental treats us again with another corker on his own label. Swinging kicks and claps introduce Boxed In, as greasy metallized twangs swim into focus and electro claves prickle the scalp. White noise pads and hyper-reverb create texture and space around the riffing bass, all underpinned by invisible subs. Zimbal Dub combines snippets of guitar and bongo into a wonky 4/4 hotstepper, as skunky dub FX rotate overhead and a grumbly bass creature runs riot in the midrange. (DJ Thinking).

Joker : Gully Brook Lane / Retro Racer : Terrorhythm Recordings : 12"
The Fader say: "Gully Brook Lane", forthcoming on Terrorhythm, is one of the most uniquely brilliant tracks to have come out of the UK in a long time.If you attended a dubstep rave or listened to a grime radio set last year, you probably heard 'Gully Brook Lane'. Joker's Kapsize EP gave him a reputation outside his native Bristol, where he was a DJ in Kold Harted Krew ("DJing wasn't enough for me," he tells FACT on his move to producing), but 'Gully Brook' flooded the market without a vinyl release. The only grime and dubstep instrumentals more ubiquitous in 2007 were Skepta's 'Stageshow' and Benga and Coki's 'Night'. So what's coming next from Joker? "Me and Pinch are starting a label; it's gonna be called Kapsize Recordings." Planned releases are 'Holly Brook Park' ('Gully Brook''s sparser cousin), 'R2D2' and "the last one people will find out when it comes out." Oh, and 'Gully Brook Lane' is finally getting a vinyl release on Plastician's Terror Rhythm label: "Things have been sorted now after 100,000 years of waiting..." Watch the clip on youtube of him mixing T2's 'Heartbroken' into 'Gully Brook Lane': it's only twenty seconds but still the best thing to hit the internet since that clip of Crazy Titch getting thrown off a plane.

Eric Lau & Guilty Simpson / Blackpocket : Producer No.1 Remix EP : Fat City : 12"
This 12 sees two of the highlights from 2007’s Producer No. 1 compilation get the rework treatment from two of Fat City’s favourite studio wizards. Mark Pritchard aka Harmonic 313 is adding some serious Detroit flavour to Eric Lau & Guilty Simpson’s “For Tha D” while Martyn, dubstep’s fastest rising star, is delivering a truly souful remix - once again deeply rooted in Detroit sounds. Renaissance man Mark Pritchard takes Eric Lau & Guilty Simpson’s ‘For the D’ to task, giving the vocal a totally new instrumental bed, harking back to the classic proto-techno sounds of Cybotron and the like, all in a shuddering hip hop template. Fans of Marks Harmonic 313 output for Warp Records will not be disappointed. Next up is Blackpocket’s ‘Ure A Sta’ remixed by dubstep’s fastest rising star - Holland’s Martyn. Detroit is once more a big influence as is the warm 2-step sound that Martyn is known to favour in his eclectic DJ sets. Plays for both sides have come from Benji B, Gilles Peterson, Kode 9, Appleblim and many many more DJs…. A fitting way to round off the first installment of the Producer series.

Hybrid : Last Man Standing (Group Therapy / Stefan Anion Remixes) : Distinctive Breaks : 12"
Second of two Hybrid re-issues from 2006. This was the first remix from their 3rd album and includes a huge remix from Dave Seaman and The Group Therapy crew which gained key radio & club play from the likes of Pete Tong, John Digweed & Paul Oakenfold. lThe mix of ‘Last Man Standing’ is brought to us by the infamous Group Therapy crew. With the legendary Dave Seaman, one of the original pioneers of house music, at the helm, this is a huge, progressive remix and was a massive club favourite. lThe Stefan Anion mix of the festival favourite ‘Until Tomorrow’, is mixed in true Hybrid style.

DIVISION002
Noisia : Seven Stitches / Groundhog : Division : 12"
After the phenomenal success of their first release Yellow Brick/Raar, Division Recordings has been established as a label providing new innovative sounds with boundless potential in every genre. Yellow Brick has gone on to become a worldwide smasher, getting plays from names such as Benny Benassi, MSTRKRFT and the stable of Radio 1 DJs. Now Noisia are ready to present the next installment of Division: Seven Stiches/Groundhog. While Division Recordings was born out of need to represent the other sides to Noisia's production output make no mistake, Division is shaping up to be a label on point with both what's current and what is to come. As for the tunes, Seven Stitches is a slice of electric heaven, a veritable fighter pilot performing synth acrobatics and bound to hit your G-force An appropriate follow up to the bending craziness of Yellow Brick, Seven Stiches was initially commissioned for Wipeout Pulse (PSP). Sony loved it so much they decided to also feature it in the Wipeout HD (PS3) game too. A tune diverse enough to satisfy on every level, throw it down amongst friends or up on stage but be sure to make it LOUD. Groundhog on the flip is pure party music with thumping rhythms and jagged funk riffs bound to get any clubspace jumping. Add a little soul and mix with some bump'n'grind & Bob's Your Uncle, you have Groundhog. It can also be heard in the forthcoming game Motorstorm 2 (PS3).
