London and New York. Two cousins across the pond - both international cosmopolitan metropolises- and each boasting their own well-established and storied nightlife histories. This Saturday, November 14th, KGB and Basic NYC are teaming up for a cross-cultural dancefloor exchange, as two central figures from London’s massive underground scene invade Sullivan Room. We’re very excited to welcome one of the key figures from late London nights – the Mulletover resident and Murmur Recordings boss Geddes – in his Sully debut. Joining him is JB, who along with partner Darren Roach has wrecked Sullivan Room many times over the years, and is a similarly recognizable name top club nights and parties across the Big Smoke. If you wanted to get a taste of what’s buzzing in the UK, this is a night not to miss.
For five years and running, Mulletover has been a fixture in London’s underground club scene. A roving event, Mulletover is about party people getting down to impeccable music, ranging from leftfield disco to techno. Right at the middle of it is Geddes, the co-founder and resident who sets the soundtrack for the night and guides its musical direction. Geddes’ talent can be heard on wax as well. As Rekleiner, Geddes and his studio partners Audiofly have knocked out a score of remixes and original productions for discerning labels like Catwash, Moodmusic and Conaisseur. And now he is coming into his own as a solo producer, with his own release earning kudos from top DJs. His outlet is his burgeoning label, murmur, which is dedicated to exposing and discovering new talent. Now with 13 releases in the bag, from the likes of Nick Curly, Nima Gorji, Bearweasel, Tom Demac and more, murmur is poised to be a label to watch.
Alongside Geddes will be fellow Londoner JB, who has been melting dancefloors and minds for many years now. He’s a regular player at some of Europe’s finest clubs and parties, and is a resident at London institutions like Electronic Body Movement and Retox, where his upfront tech-house sound has earned him a loyal following of avid clubbers. He’s played Sullivan Room many times before in the past, and with his new “Collaborations” CD dropping on up-and-coming London label IFIDOTA, we’re excited to hear JB’s newest material.
Warming up the night will be B-Day boy Pete Schwinge, who will be making his Basic NYC debut. Pete’s been making waves recently in the blogosphere, with his own NYC Buffalo Wing review blog: wingsandthecity.wordpress.com. Closing out the night will be Basic NYC residents Sleepy & Boo.
