Old Thursday, Dec 17th 2009, 05:58 PM #1 Gifts for guys (paging JP!)
i remember someone (maybe it was JP?) that started a good thread about gifts for guys. i just have to get a birthday/xmas present for my bro and i'm SO out of ideas.

any sites/blogs on stuff that guys want/like? my bro is obsessed with football and basically every sport on earth, likes good clothes, is a gadget/electronics freak.. doesn't travel unless to some island near florida, doesn't really like to read if it's not about sports, is a workaholic... hmm yea.

plz to have halp? lookin to spend around 100.

TIA.

My husband likes gifts like a new MP4 and the stuff that goes with it. He said the best gift he ever got was the laser measuring thing I got him(accurate to 1/8) and now he uses it at work(arch/eng). Just got to J&R or B&H, give them a budget and try to get the most for your buck. Go with electronics!

Give him a greeting card and put $10 in it.

No need to thank me for all the help I've given you.

The shave these things give is fantastic, and the replacement blades are 14 cents as opposed to the absurd Machwhatever that do the same exact thing. Plus it's a neat old timey kind of guy ritual thing.

ANy of these Mekur blades are pretty good, actually.

And this place makes amazing hand made shaving soaps.

Does he go to parties with EDM? My husband just ordered this to play with on the wall at home- http://cgi.ebay.com/5-in-1-Green-Las...em414b090 ae3 It makes a nice stocking stuffer. If he is into downloading stuff, the Archos MP4 is nice. You can put anything on it, use it in the car, attach it to the tv to watch a movie or watch on the screen. He can use it on his flights to the Caribbean or take movies on vacation.

i didnt realize this.

oh also - you have to buy the attachments for whatever he is going to charging up. each one is like $20-$30, but you can get one that does a bunch of different things.

Oh.

Good point.

Make it $15 instead of $10.

I think this is one of those things that looks really cool in theory but sucks in practice. The attachment thing looks like it makes your iPhone 50% wider. DO NOT WANT LARGER PHONE. I'd rather take the 5 seconds to plug my phone into a charger each day than have a larger phone and also have some big charge mat sitting on my dresser.

at the very least he'll say it's cool on Christmas. it is really cool, I think it would just suck to use every day

my suggestion would be to go to the MoMa design store and just buy him a bunch of the cool toys/gadgets they have there. that stuff is really fun to play with, Christmas should be fun like that.
