[B]After a long hiatus, The Melting Pot crew is back and is doing it at the storied and historical Nuyorican Poet's Café. This time around, "the underground" is the brought to the fore. Poet, Nathan P (Slam Poet Host) brings the sheer 'madness' to the musical accompaniment of DJ Kervyn Mark. Visual surprises are in store as this socio-political hub finally
has a dance party to end all dance parties.

A Bit of History, In Case You Didn't Know:

In the spring of 2002, a group of like-minded individuals whose love of music brought them to common dance venues, banded together to form a clan whose purpose was to enlighten, inspire and move people through the exploration of art, culture and life by way of deep underground house. On September 18, 2002, The Melting Pot NYC had its first interdisciplinary event in a gallery in Chelsea. Painters and photographers displayed their art, dancers performed, poets recited and singers did their thing . . . all of this in unison with the DJ who spun a variety of dance music from soulful jazz to Afro-Cuban fusion. Everyone present, including the founders, felt ecstatic at the interaction between all the styles being presented - art, music, performances - under one roof.

Since then the Melting Pot has continued in this philosophy of curating events utilizing the arts. As time progresses we have come to an understanding that art mirrors life. Our events have at times addressed social issues and philosophical beliefs. Our quest will always be to create a venue of free expression. Our goal is
to present those underground artists who you probably would not hear about, since they are not 'mainstream' and to combine their wonderful creativity with the music we have fallen inlove with.

We will always welcome those willing to volunteer their talents to an audience that, quite frankly, is eagerly awaiting to 'know Them'. We are The Melting Pot NYC - an open and loving environment for people to experience music, art, dance, the ecstasy of celebrating life and the spiritual beauty of artistic expression.
